Went in last night at tea time and will definately not be back. Plastic screens up at bar and signs saying that there was no bar service, table service only, which is fine, except for the fact that there were three customers (obviously regulars) who were not only getting served, they remained seated at the bar and drank their pints. Two of the guys were sitting just inches from each other. Ridiculous behaviour in the present circumstances, made worse by the fact that none of the staff said anything.

Fantastic boozer, great range of drinks and cheaper than most about, doesn't do food which gives it a proper ole pub feel to it. Staff are great, switched on and extremely polite unless your being cheeky then you get as a good as give.

Sweeneys always have good bands playing, I have enjoyed all the bands I have seen there. I highly recommend it.

Went in for drink on Sunday afternoon when walking through Shawlands to be met with a practically empty pub, there were 3 older women sitting at end of the bar chatting to barmaid, sounded like family members and a young child darting in and out of the bar, thought that was against the law.Barmaid was friendly and the drink was cheap but there was an uncomfortable atmosphere and we quickly finished and left. Any time we had been in before it has always been busy with music or bands playing, was strange to see it so empty. Won't be rushing back.

Absolutely packed tonight for live football shown on multiple screens in both lounges. One lounge has a performance stage. After the football was over there was a "Quiet Blues" semi-acoustic jam session. The footy crowd were off like a shot at match end not caring a jot for the great music which followed. For me Glasgow punters are spoiled. They can have marvellous shows of all genres absolutely free but can't be bothered to turn up. Many people already there but couldn't be bothered to stay even for a little while to check out what was on offer in this lovely little southside venue. Staff were polite, helpful and friendly ,making me coffee. Cant talk about the drink prices as i wasnt drinking cos on medication. The pub is situated on main pollokshaws rd. facing Queens Park boating pond, thus the name. It is served by many buses from the city centre, most frequent being nos 38 & 57.
