Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I recently traveled with my husband and friends for 2 weeks in Scotland on a private tour. Our tour guide Tom took our original ideas about what we wanted to see in Scotland over this period of time, and showed us so much more than we could have ever imagined or planned ourselves! He created an itinerary that took us all over Scotland from Glasgow to Oban to the Isles of Staffa, Iona, Harris and Lewis. From Inverness to Sterling to Edinburgh . He booked all of our accommodations and made sure we had a plan for our meals during the day. Tom’s knowledge of history was extensive and his passion for Scotland was contagious! We traveled to places with spectacular views which we would not have seen on our own . As our guide and as a person, Tom was always professional , caring and flexible. Our group really connected with Tom which truly enhanced our experience and appreciation of this beautiful country. We had great fun and learned a lot as well. Thank you Tom! I will never forget this trip!

We had a great walk with Tom through the East End. Lots of discussion about the history of Glasgow, hints for taking a Greta photograph.

Tom was aware we were interested in the street art as well, so made sure to show us some of art along our tour around the East End.

The great thing is he kept to outpace.

Throughly enjpyed the day.

Just returned from a tour in the Torridon area on the West coast of Scotland. This is the second I have taken with Tom Docherty and Photo Walk Scotland, previously to the Isle of Skye and both have been thoroughly enjoyable and worthwhile. Everything is faultlessly organised and everyone is made to feel welcome. His knowledge of the history and geography of the locations visited is amazing. He is a very accomplished photographer, always willing to help and advise. Book any one of his tours and you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended.

When we decided to see more of Scotland, our first call was to Tom at Photowalk Scotland. He had toured us around the Highlands and Glencoe in 2019 and we knew he was the right choice to see more of Scotland. Upon his recommendation, we boarded bus X62 in Edinburgh and rode through the scenic countryside for just over an hour to Peebles. Tom and his coworker Stewart were waiting at the Peebles Post Office bus stop and off we went. We spent two days exploring the Scottish Borders and then Tom returned us back to our hotel in Edinburgh. We visited the tiny Stobo Kirk chapel, Smailholm Tower and stopped to admire the stunning Scott’s View. We also visited the St Abbs Nature Reserve, Cove Harbour, and walked on a private beach with views of Bass Rock and Tantallon Castle. At one point during our tour as we wound our way through the countryside, we had to briefly stop to allow several sheep to move out of the road. Tom’s knowledge of Scottish history made the country come alive for us. We have always enjoyed how friendly the Scottish people are, but this trip really showed us how proud the Scots are of their history. After touring with Tom, we spent some time in Edinburgh and Glasgow but agreed that our time with Photowalk Scotland was the best part of our trip. We will definitely book with Tom again if we are able to return to Scotland.

Hi Vicki & Chuck, thank you so much for your very kind review. It was so nice to see you both again and Stewart and I thoroughly enjoyed showing you around another part of our wonderful wee country. We really were well off the beaten track and we are so pleased that you liked these lesser-known and remote areas. I have to say that i was particularly pleased to be able to locate a hairy coo for you..... Take care and best wishes. Tom

I was in Glasgow with Tom last Friday & couldn't have got a better night; I'm delighted with the pictures I got but even more pleased with what I learned from him. This will be great help when the nights are dry & clear & I can get out on my own for more night time photography.
As others have said Tom is great company with knowledge on so many subjects. He certainly knows his photography & was very patient helping me learn new techniques. Thoroughly recommended.

Just completed two wonderful days of touring with Tom, who picked us up from the airport in Glasgow and drove us up through beautiful Glencoe to Portree on the Isle of Skye, and then toured us around Skye before bringing us back to Glasgow the next day. Tom was incredibly accommodating to our very tight schedule and jet-lagged family, stopping whenever we needed for restroom and food breaks. He has a master's degree in history and also leads photography tours, and so we learned so much about the picturesque places he took us to, as well as some tips to photograph them at their best! He also clearly cares about the quality of the places he recommends, and left us back in Glasgow with several restaurants to try, as well. Tom helped us begin our first visit to Scotland in such a fantastic way and we highly recommend him and Photo Walk Scotland.

I had a fabulous day with Tom in Glasgow. I live in Scotland and have visited Glasgow many times and thought I knew the city well. Tom introduced me to many new places I didn't know existed- and his knowledge of Glasgow's history is incredible! If you're visiting Glasgow I highly recommend you book a tour with Tom- I wouldn't travel Glasgow any other way. He also gave me some awesome tips for my photography and I saw a huge difference in the quality of my images right away. A+++++

Tom was an amazing guide for our family trip to Mull and Glencoe. He was extremely knowledgeable in the rich history of our destinations. He took so much care and attention to our needs and his deep love for Scotland was so evident. He was prompt and anticipated our needs extremely well. A wealth of great stories and charm. Communication was top notch from start to finish. Could not recommend Tom more highly!
