Top tip: skip breakfast, incredible eating awaits! An unforgettable experience for the food and culture curious. Whenever we visit a new place we try to get booked up on a food tour. What better way to learn a bit more about the place you're in? After a bit of hunting around we decided to choose The Wee Food Tour, based on the glorious reviews and the information on their website. Even though this is possibly the most expensive food tour we've been on, but by the time we finished the tour we felt we'd received a lot more than we paid for, absolutely great value! Maddy, our incredibly knowledgeable guide for the day, was absolutely amazing and clearly really cares about championing local businesses. We knew very little about Glasgow when we started the tour in the morning, but by the end of our tour we'd tried so many historically and contemporary deliciously significant items, and spoken with local business owners (all of which were so open and keen to share their food and cultural insights) that we felt we'd been on a Glasgow masterclass. We criss-crossed the city by foot, by underground (subway), and by taxi so we really got a great overview of the city and it's huge range of food, which set us up well for the rest of our stay in the city. The food itself was fantastic and far ranging, and certainly represented great value for money. This isn't simply a food tour, this is Maddy opening her heart to you and sharing her passion for the people and food of Glasgow. Highly recommended!

Maddy was a great host and is sure to introduce you to some aspects of Glasgow that may be easy to miss otherwise.
My wife and I were in Glasgow for a week to visit our daughter who has lived here for about 8 months. We enjoy beginning trips with food tours as an opportunity to see the area while getting an idea about the local food and culture and Maddy does a great job taking you to different areas in the city and letting you try some local dishes.
It was just my wife, daughter and I, so we had a great chance to chat with Maddy throughout the afternoon. For the tour itself, we started with some more traditional Scottish fare like Cullen Skink with smoked salmon on sourdough to haggis with neeps and tatties. Then we had a chance to try some local cheese, chutneys, and fresh wild garlic pesto at a local cheese shop, followed up with some homemade ice cream, a small candy shop for some tasty treats, and wrapping it up with some fried pizza, chips, and fried mars bar.
As an added treat, at the end of the tour and last minute, Maddy took us down an nondescript alley and up two flights of stairs to a place I would have never guessed existed in the area. The Britannia Panopticon, billed as the Worlds Oldest Surviving Music Hall, is worth the nominal fee that is used for much needed restoration. Even in the state of disrepair the hall is in, you can imagine the vaudeville greats from the 1920s causing a ruckus on the stage. This stage is where Stan Laurel from Laurel and Hardy fame started his career, and the stage hosted other vaudeville greats like Jack Buchanan and Archie Leech (who would go on to become known under his movie stage name as Cary Grant).
If you are just going to be in Glasgow for a day, or starting a longer stay, this is a must-do tour, and who knows, even if you’ve been in Glasgow before or for a long time, you’ll probably find a hidden gem or two on this tour.

A fantastic experience for the food and culture curious The trip takes you to different city areas, where you're treated to traditional Scottish meals in the most exciting eateries. You're not just going on a food tour with Maddy. This is her sharing her love for the people and cuisine of Glasgow with you. I am delighted that I chat with family business owners every time. They are very sincere and enthusiastic. The absolute highlight was talking with the owner at THE UNIVERSITY CAFE. The furniture there are all made by their family members. It really felt like I was visiting my grandpa. I will be back there for sure! We were welcomed with politeness and given a menu with an extensive variety of delicious meals, everything of high quality.
We can highly recommend it to everyone since it was very personal and real.

I absolutely loved this tour. It took in a few places that I had earmarked to see and I also got to try a fried Mars Bar (delicious). Maddy is so well informed about Glasgow and was full of fun facts. We crossed to different areas of the city using the underground and a taxi and walked for miles too, trying all kinds of food along the way from cullen skink and haggis, to local cheeses and traditional confectionery and ice-cream. We were out for almost 5 hours and I couldn't eat again that day so if you take this tour, and I thoroughly recommend that you do, then make sure you arrive hungry!

Excellent food tour with Madeline covering several areas of Glasgow and a range of local restaurants and shops. Good communication pre and post tour, kept informed of unavoidable changes which did not impact on our experience. Madeline was passionate and knowledgeable about Glasgow, as was seen by the great relationship with with the owners, all of whom were happy to chat and discuss their offerings. Won’t spoil your experience by giving too much away, but needless to say we didn’t leave hungry! Would definitely recommend you take this tour.

Absolutely LOVED this tour, worth every cent. Fantastic combo of gourmet foods, traditional Scottish dishes, local treats, deep fried junk food and the layered food history of Glasgow. I cannot tell you how delighted we were with this tour. The absolute highlight was chatting with the ladies at Glickman’s candy shop. It really felt like we were visiting our favorite cousins or aunts, we will be back there for sure! Everywhere we went, people spoke to Maddie (guide) with such fondness, and all were locally owned places. In one, there were even gorgeous huge portraits of the staff up on the walls! I’ve never seen anything like it. What would it be like to feel so valued where you work? Left me wishing I could spend more time in Glasgow. What a perfect, perfect afternoon.

If you do nothing else in Glasgow, do this tour! Madeline was so well versed in all things Glasgow, history, food, and especially art. It was a special in-depth treat to spend the afternoon with her. We knew we were in for a special treat when she took us off the beaten path and handed us a train ticket! Why see touristy areas, when you can eat and see all the beautiful things of Glasgow. We had picky teenagers with us, and Madeline was quick to pivot and accommodate their diversion to all things seafood and haggis (there was even a vegetarian version to try!). We appreciated this day so much, and I believe she even sparked the desire to attend Glasgow university with our teenager and wealth of art, history, and social information of this area. Thank you!

We do a lot of Food Tours when we travel and wish more Food Tours were like this! We got to try so much great food at local, independent establishments. We also leaned a lot about the city!
We ventured out to the west end of Glasgow and escaped some of the more touristy areas to experience and taste Glasgow like a local! Maddie loves Glasgow and is so proud of the city. She is a tremendous guide, full of knowledge about the city and the influences on the food in the city. She makes the experience very conversational and casual where you can ask questions and actually get to talk to a few owners of the shops and restaurants!
Come hungry, because the food is amazing and you will want to eat every bite!

Fantastic! Maddie is lovely and she did an amazing job of taking us around the city. The foods were excellent. Make sure you go hungry because the portions are generous for a tasting tour. This food tour is quite unique as you walk and use the subway so you get to different areas of the city. Definitely do this tour!!!!

Maddy was a great guide on this culinary adventure. We sampled many different Scottish dishes as she shared her knowledge, experience and passion for the history and culture. It was evident she took great care in choosing her stops to represent a great variety of quality foods and the shop owners were full of tales and explanations of the history of the foods and their shops. I would highly recommend Mandy’s Wee Food Tours while in Glasgow.

Thank you for brining some California sunshine to my tour! Glasgow is such a fantastic city and once you get a taste of it (and the yummy food) it will always be a place to return to.
Hope you had a brilliant time with your Outlander tour and keep enjoying all the fun and food in your travels!
Warmly,
Maddy

I’m bringing my elderly grandmother back to Scotland for the first time since she left her homeland in 1950! She has arthritis and is not able to walk long distances, would this tour be suitable for her? It sounds amazing!

Maddie had us take several forms of transportation - underground, taxi, uber and walking. However, my wife does not walk well so Maddie was very accommodating,
and we only walked once for about 2 blocks

The tour I took was 4 hours of wonderful food, history, and sights of the city of Glasgow. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Tour starts at 11 am and goes until just after 3 pm with lots of food along the way. Everything is paid for in your tour price including transportation. Great deal.
