Traveling with Ian was like traveling with my best friend. From the moment we had our first phone call, I saw his love for what he does and his enthusiasm to make the planned experience the best for his guests.

I was traveling solo on my trip to Scotland so I was skeptical of anyone and anything. I was put at ease with how well that nervousness was handled. I was given complete power to choose anything I needed or wanted.

I made a list of everything I wanted to do in Scotland and Ian was able to incorporate it all in the small amount of time we had together. I still don’t know how he managed it! He not only took what I asked for and ran with it but made suggestions based on my likes, personality and background.

The overnight trips included his stay which was reasonable and completely worth it. I enjoyed his company so much that I invited him to dinner and whisky tasting. (While we were parked for the overnight). His knowledge was outstanding also! He knew almost every answer to every question I had… and the ones he didn’t, he took great care into finding them out for me. I absolutely loved his knowledge of music and came away with some new favorite Scottish bands as well!

I could write a book on how much I enjoyed my time with Glascotours, but let me leave you with this. ITS SOOO WORTH IT! Just reach out and have a conversation. You will see. NOONE will put more effort into your experience. Ian and his wife run a wonderful business. I still keep in touch as I truly built a friendship out of this and Ian’s quirkiness, intelligence and banter helped me love Scotland even more!

I WILL book again. It was my best and most memorable part of my month stay.

We had a one day tour with Glascotours covering Glasgow, Edinburgh and other attractions in between. Ian made a memorable day for us. Excellent car, well planned itinerary, flexible to our needs, friendly chats , knowledgeable explations and even complementary gifts bags for each of us. We enjoyed and achieved what we thought impossible in a flash tour.
Highly recommended for Scotland tour.

Ian was absolutely amazing to work with planning a special family day tour from Glasgow. By the time we finally arrived in Scotland and got to meet him in person I already felt like we knew each other so well. I chose Glascotours for a couple of reasons. One we wanted a personal family tour and two we loved the fact we were able to customize our itinerary. I emailed back and forth with Ian a few times asking about stops we were wanting to make and he offered his opinions without trying to influence our decisions which I really appreciated. On the day of the tour he was at the designated meeting point promptly and with a nice special touch for our daughter as we were on this trip to celebrate her graduation. Ian was so friendly and asked if we wanted music, if the temperature was comfortable, were we ok with his driving habits etc... more than I ever expected. While on the road in between our locations he would point our interesting sights and tell us interesting facts about different points along the way. We never felt like we were rushed at any stopping points which is why we wanted a private tour. Ian took photos of the family along the way, and at the end of the day had made dinner reservations for us at a lovely old inn/pub. He was very attentive to everyone's needs the entire day and we probably ran a little bit later in the evening than what was planned but Ian was so nice he never made you feel like anything was an inconvenience. We have done other private tours in Italy and France but without a doubt Ian was the best I have ever worked with. We fell in Love with Scotland especially the highlands. I can't recommend the Glencoe area enough. When we go back to Scotland I will make Ian my first contact to plan further adventures. I can't say thank you enough to Ian and his friendliness and professional attitude. Well done sir, Well done.

Our plan was to fly into Glascow on Monday afternoon and catch the ferry from Kennecraig to Islay on Wednesday afternoon. So how do we maximize our sightseeing time before the Islay part of our trip and how do we get from Glascow to the ferry? The answer was Ian from Glascotours. He helped us figure out what to see and also what hotels and restaurants we should visit. Ian is very knowledgeable and had great suggestions. The first evening he met us at the the airport and then we viewed the Kelpies. On Tuesday we toured Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond and spent the evening in Oban. On Wednesday Ian drove use through the Kilmartin area we took a short walk among the prehistoric standing stones and cairns. In this short period of time we saw so much thanks to Ian, but it never felt rushed or too much. Ian took great care of us and his tour was a great way to experience Scotland. Highly Recommended!

We had a custom tour to Aberdeen with Ian. He bent over backwards to meet our goals and then add special interests that we were not aware of. This created an amazing learning experience that we were seeking.
And, because of Ian’s attention to things big and small we were completely relaxed throughout the tour.
Thank you Ian for a wonderful trip.

I’ve driven myself around Scotland before but this time I was accompanied by my wife and two adult daughters and wanted to avoid unfamiliar roads and a small vehicle.

As I was investigating transfers between our arrival/departure point of Glasgow and our primary location in Edinburgh it occurred to me to look at hiring a service for both the transfers and the day trip we had planned. I ended up arranging the trip with Ian Smith of Glasgotours.

I couldn’t have been more satisfied. The price was fair. The vehicle was comfortable and spotless. Ian was always on time. And most important, he was able to suggest some stops along the way on our trip to the Inverness area that turned out to be the highlight of the trip for my daughters. The Bridges across the Firth of Forth were the big hit. He also showed us parts of Glasgow and Edinburgh as we went back and forth to the airport. He even located a Highland Coo for us on the way.

We were only with Ian for a couple of days but I wouldn’t hesitate to use Glascotours for a longer trip if that were in my plans.

Ian provided us with an outstanding day of scenic guide expertise, local knowledge, history, and special surprises. He made our day trip an unforgettable experience. I cannot overstate the care he took in ensuring every member of our family of 4 were comfortable and happy. He went above and beyond, and he epitomizes professionalism. Thank you Ian and Glascotours! We can’t wait to work with you again.

My favorite part was seeing the places that Ian and I talked about and even more. Ian knew the key points we wanted to see (St. Andrews, Pithlochry, Inverness, Skye, Ft. William) just a few but also added his knowledge to add to our trip. He got us on an impromptu seal boat tour. Ian was so helpful from the start with great communication. Ian has a special gift to make you feel really like a VIP. He remembered little things in everything said and was so considerate. Prior to the trip I hurt my foot and he really made every effort to keep me from having to walk far unecessarily. Ian really made the trip wonderful by doing things my husband really liked while letting me do girlie things like shopping and finding some hairy coos to hang with. I definately whole-heartedly recommend you go on a tour with Ian.

I strongly recommend Ian if you are visiting Scotland and need help planning an itinerary, a driver and a tour guide. Ian is all that in one person. We hired him for four of us, two seniors and two professional adults. He was a very competent driver with a very comfortable large van. But he was far more than just a driver!
From the first contact, Ian was courteous, helpful and clearly interested in getting to know us so that he could cater to our specific needs. He's a pleasant, good-humored, calm and intelligent person and a great tour guide. We didn't know what to do and his tour suggestions were all excellent!!! We hired him for three days, travelling from Glasgow to Oban and up to Mallaig; then to Lanarkshire.
He worked very hard to make our trip a great success. He nimbly found alternatives to unforeseen circumstances - such as the last minute cancellation of our ferry! And he found hidden stops along all the routes that fit the quirky interests of our group!
He was very patient and understanding with the mobility constraints of one of our group and made all of us feel comfortable no matter what the concern. I'm confident saying that our trip would not have been the success it was without his input.
Thank you Ian!!
