What an awesome introduction to mountaineering with our fantastic guide, Sam. Having had no prior experience and no idea what to expect I was excited yet a little apprehensive to begin the climb of the incredible, Ben Nevis. Our day began with a scenic hike from the North Face car park in which Sam provided reassuring information about the route ahead whilst also offering interesting facts about the geology of our surroundings and some botanical features. His friendly and fun character started the day off well, answering any questions and calming any worries, which eased any fear I had prior to the climb.

During the ascent, the weather turned pretty grim with many showers and tricky winds however there wasn’t a single moment I felt unsafe. Sam was helpful, patient and caring whilst guiding us up the mountain. His rope work was faultless and his calming demeanour never wavered. Sam’s abundance of knowledge and passion for what he does shows in his character and as a result, makes you feel right at ease. This allowed me to completely enjoy the experience and not feel any fear despite never doing anything like it before. The route was so much fun and felt completely epic! I’m sure the views would have been incredible too if we had more luck with the weather.

I had the most amazing day and felt like I learnt so much whilst having the most fun. If you are considering booking with EverydayClimbing, do it! You will absolutely have the most incredible time. I 100% recommend and would love to book again.

What an amazing first mountaineering experience climbing the north face of Ben Nevis with our fantastic guide, Sam Percival. Sam’s wealth of experience and skill put us at ease straight away, and his faith in us never wavered! It was a very wet and windy climb, with some extremely slippy sections, but we could not have been in safer hands! Great knowledge of the mountains and banter to boot. Would definitely recommend Sam as your go to guide. Thanks for a great day Sam, we are hooked!

Over several years, I had perused my dream of completing the Munro's. A difficulty presented to me towards the end was the inaccessible pinnacle. I had a group of friends come up for a long weekend, traveling from Edinburgh and Ireland! We were all absolutely desperate to climb the innpinn, but after the weather took a turn for the worst, heavy showers and gusts of up to 50mph truly did make the pinnacle inaccessible.

Sadly, my friends had to leave after this defeat. I had 3 Munro's left. I wasn't letting the innpinn beat me; alone and determined I ascended Sgurr Dearg early in the morning. My plan was to ask every person ascending if they could let me tag along, or at the very least let me solo it and borrow their rope for the abseil down. Sitting at the bottom of the tower of rock for an unknown amount of time, two independent groups passed me by and couldn't accept me. Third time lucky I suppose.

Just as I was losing hope, a booming voice echoes over the summit. It was a mountain guide unveiling the innpinn in a humorous manner to a client. "..Hugo Munro got to the top of this and said 'Yep! this looks good enough to be the top' hence it not being included as a summit on his original list.."

When the pair reached the bottom of the pinnacle I knew the time to ask was now. With my brass neck I walked over and explained the situation, and asked if I could potentially tag along. Sam was a little hesitant at first, but understanding how close I was to the finish line he empathised with me, and offered to bring me up with him as long as the client agreed. After asking the client who had no problem with me joining, I filled out a health and safety form (he is a professional after all!). Caught up in the excitement and anticipation I embarrassed myself a little by equipping my harness incorrectly and getting the legs all twisted. Sam set me right and understood in the heat of the moment I was a little bit all over the place.

We roped in and ascended the innpinn. Sam gracefully flew up the side of the pinnacle, placing gear as he climbed. Before we could even think about the ascent, he called down to myself and the client to climb when ready. As we climbed, his instructions were cool, collected and simple to follow. Reaching the top, we had to perform an abseil which went smoothly. Sam gently lowered me, again giving reassuring words and instructions to keep us on form.

I wish all the best to Sam, as if it was not for him I would have been unable to complete what I've been dreaming of for nearly a decade. He is a great man, with an empathetic and charitable heart of gold. His technical skills are fantastic, not to mention the charisma he has with his clients and expansive factual knowledge of the Cullins. I would absolutely recommend Sam, and have no doubt that anyone who is guided by him will have no regrets!

We booked a 5 day Sea Stacks trip with Sam, culminating in the Old Man of Hoy. The weather prevented us climbing on the West Coast but Sam came up with an alternative plan that still felt like an adventure, made the best of the conditions, and suitably prepared us for the challenges of Hoy.
Recognising my inexperience Sam worked hard to maximise my chances of success on Hoy, taking a lot of time to coach me through the tricky moves in advance so I knew what to expect. Sam's ropework was flawless throughout the week so I had total trust in him when it came to Hoy and I was beyond elated when I reached the top.
Sam was an excellent cook providing delicious food and generous portions, he looked after us well.
We had a really enjoyable few days and it was amazing to come away from the trip having pushed myself further out of my comfort zone than I thought possible. We will definitely be back to climb with Sam again and look forward to tackling more sea stacks and other adventures.
Highly recommended, wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Our guide, Andy was great. We had to move to a different location due to unforeseen circumstances, but Andy had an alternative plan fortunately.

We both had a lovely day and Andy looked after us well.

Eagle ridge Lochnagar with Sam, turned out to be challenging (for me) as the weather was worse than forecast. So impressed with Sam with his ability and calmness on challenging steep and wet rock. I felt safe while moving up behind him at all times..

Fantastic day out .. what an adventure!
