- GillyEdinburgh, United Kingdom47 contributionsLovely clean tidy distilleryFantastic distillery- well worth a visit. Staff exceptional. Good knowledge of their products and very chatty to us. Gave me a few tasters of some of the gins I wanted to try with no hard sell at all. Would highly recommend a visit. Easy to find. Lovely products as well as their gin too!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 October 2023
- Brenda W3 contributionsHoliday VisitAn amazing place to spend some time. We were welcomed by Lorna, the manager, who was most informative about the different gins. The variety of flavours was varied and Lorna gave great advice about which mixers went well with each. After sampling a few of the gins we purchased our favourites to take home. We would highly recommend a visit.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 October 2023

- Rachael S1 contributionHighly recommended this! The girls Lorna and Trish made it a great experience. Trish took out the tasting we were on. My partner was driving so couldn't consume alcohol but kinrara were extremely accomodating to this with plenty of coffee and shortbread! Trish made it experience really exciting and fun. We all had a good laugh as we learned about kinrara and the gins they produce. Lorna was working in the shop and she was so friendly! These ladies made the experience we had really enjoyable! I would highly recommended this to anyone! Kinrara is set in a beautiful part of Aviemore. It's tranquil and peaceful. Kinrara is a small but mighty place with lots of character and charisma. It's a family owned business and it's a beautiful place. My partner and I left with a smile on our faces and great memories to look back on. I would definitely go back just to visit these wonderful women and also for some gin! We will be back! Absolute 10/10 experience!!! - Liz R1 contributionKinrara will NOT disappoint! This magical place is TRULY a hidden gem!! Yes, everyone usually associates Scotland with whisky/scotch, but I promise....not only will you drink some of the most incredible gin ever, but the staff at Kinrara throw it into the stratosphere. Caroline's stories, laughter, warmth, hospitality & love of gin made us all feel like we were catching up at a friends house. Visiting Kinrara was one of the highlights of our trip. We can't recommend this place enough & be sure, we will be back to visit the next time we're in Scotland :) Slainte!!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 October 2023

Lorna and Trish were fabulous and extremely knowledgable - the tasting experience hosted by Trish was great and highly recommended! We thought we would have to cancel due to not being able to get a taxi but Lorna kindly offered to pick us up and also drop us off back home! Really going the extra mile and greatly appreciated! Can’t recommend enough!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 October 2023
- Torsten B8 contributionswunderful gin tatsingWe received a wonderful gin tasting on October 22nd, 2023 and really enjoyed the morning. Trish took care of our group of whiskey drinkers and explained everything very clearly. The explanation of the production process and the tasting itself were characterized by a very friendly and warm atmosphere. The clear explanation of the ingredients, how to serve the drink with tonic, water or even frozen fruits and the comparison of the different types, all of this made our first gin experience perfect. This made us feel very comfortable and in good hands. 5 small bottles of gin found their way straight into our luggage.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 30 October 2023

- JackPenrith, United Kingdom38 contributionsWelcome GinWe visited mid afternoon in a time of the year when I guess a distillery would not be open to visitors, but it was open for our impromtu visit. Our host welcomed us and gave a very informative tour of the shop and expertly described the gins available together with the ingredients. Free tastings were available and happy visit was had by all. Located close to the southern reaches of Aviemore it is easily accessible and is a must visit location when you are in the area. The gins available are very special.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 18 November 2023

We have had a fabulous afternoon at Kinara Distillery. Trish and Reanne have been perfect hosts. They even made sure our dog - Milo- had a great time. He was very happy with the fusses and the treats! The distillery is small but the tasting room and shop are finished to a high standard. More importantly the Gin itself is amazing and the main products each have their own character (literally and from a taste perspective). The distillery is on the outskirts of Aviemore so you will need a designated driver or other form of transport definitely a thorough recommend for any gin lovers.

I visited with my Mum after a work colleague recommended it and we really enjoyed ourselves! A lovely wee distillery with a very generous tasting in a really lovely tasting room! With some botanicals they use on display as part of the tasting, it’s a great way for guests to actually see what goes into what they’re drinking; and an informative talk on how they actually distill their gin. Shout out to our guide Trish who was also able to recommend particular mixers and garnishes for each of the different gins we tried. Their different bottle designs are also really beautiful and their shop and shop displays are very appealing. Definitely recommend a visit! Thank you!

Myself and 2 friends did the gin tasting at Kinrara yesterday - it was absolutely brilliant!!!! Trish who did the tasting was fantastic - so natural, funny and knowledgeable. She was able to suggest different mixers with different gins which completely changed the taste and managed to gauge our preferences after just a few tastes. Lorna was also on hand to hand. This gin tasting experience was amazing value for money and I would highly recommend it.

We came across this lovely little gin distillery whilst researching things to do in Aviemore. What a find! We were the only two customers on an 11am gin tasting experience but what an experience we had. It was lovely learning all about the origins of the distillery and exploring a good number of their gins. Our host was friendly and engaging and supplied the driver with a coffee and shortbread and a free sample to take away. The gins were fab and bottles stunning, It was hard to choose which one to buy but we eventually decided on the artists edition "ginny" coo gin, an appropriate souvenier from this lovely part of Scotland. This little gin distillery deserves all the big accolades it gets.

This is an amazing place that any gin lover should visit. We were a group of 8 who were made to feel so welcome by the lovely Caroline, even welcoming our 2 pups as well. She explained about the gins in such detail while we tasted each one (hibiscus and rose being my fave) I would recommend to anyone and will certainly be ordering direct for Xmas....thanks again for a great morning

The manager behind the counter was very friendly, and accommodated my group despite us missing the last tasting, and get us several samples. It’s probably the best gin I tasted on my vacation, and provided several options of all types of gin. There is a reason the reviews are glowing for this place.
Take a second and read the only 1 star reviews (at the time of writing) and you’ll see the most petty comments ever. One guy upset he couldn’t get wasted, and another that was bothered because they protected the bottles they bought in bubble wrap. So basically it’s a great sign if the only complaints have to resort to this level of ridiculousness. If you are in the area and like gin, you must stop here.

Caroline in brilliant! She is knowledgeable, funny and extremely warm and welcoming. We don't generally do any tastings when out on a family holiday due to the dogs and my 10yo. But kinrara is very much a welcoming, family inclusive, enjoyable tasting session. My daughter felt included they spoke to her alot and offered her drink and snack while there. The wee room for the sessions are lovely, cosy and warm the shop is a perfect size and you do not feel pressured at all to make a purchase (although we did both times 🤣) We had a brilliant time, in fact it's such a laugh we went at the end of may 23 and came back in June and definitely will be back when we are next up.
I would highly recommend!

Hi Bryony,
We love when families come to the distillery and are particularly fond of our canine friends. We also love the cosiness of the tasting room and that you can browse street free in the shop. We will no doubt see you soon of a replenish of your stock.
Many thanks,

Sophie and Lorna's knowledge about the gins was excellent.
They tailored the gins we sampled, to what gins we would usually drink e.g. sweet / fruity, and also let us try different mixers with them from what we would usually have, to what they said would go better... which it did!
You don't get a tour of the distillery itself, due to health and safety reasons and that it would take 2 mins, as it'so small, haha, but they do show you pictures of the distillery, which is good.
Perhaps for future presentations though, the pictures could be shown on the TV, so it's a bit bigger / easier to see?
I would highly recommend a visit here, and as ideally anyone visiting to book a taxi to/ from the distillery, so everyone can enjoy the experience.
I will certainly be back again, the next time I stay in the area.

Wonderful tasting session with Lorna at Kinrara Distillery. Such varied botanicals are added to these gins. Lorna's explanations were very good and she was patient as I tried to decide which ones I liked best. The designs of the bottle images were lovely and the animals / birds designs are made up of the botanicals in the gin.
My son who was driving was delighted to get a small bottle to take home with him. Definitely recommend this small distillery to anyone in the area. Cannot wait for my choices to join me at home!
