The Thurso Cinema in Caithness, is the UK mainland's most northerly entertainment venue. It re-opened in July 2012 after a successful public campaign. The cinema has two screens - 152 and 88 seats a-piece. Customers can enjoy the latest Sony 4K digital projection, Dolby 7:1 sound technology and 3D. The Bar & Kitchen is now open.

I was highly impressed with this cinema and was an unexpected surprise to see such a large facility with a good variety of show times.
Pleasant venue, nice entrance, good cafe bar, decent wee shop and pleasant staff.
The cinema itself was lovely with nice comfortable and well-designed seats.
Sound and picture quality was spot on.
It’s always nice to support a local cinema in such a good location.
A great facility which made the film more enjoyable!

Today I was going to attend Thurso Merlin Cinema with some friends to watch Barbie. Unfortunately the power had cut out. This was very terrible as we dressed up for this film. As you can most likely tell, we take cinema watching very seriously and this was just not tolerable. This experience was absolutely day ruining. All the employees were saying completely different things.

Great cinema. Staff are very nice and courteous when using the cinema with family and friends. Prices are very reasonable when you purchase the movie magic card or use the Monday 2 for 1 offer. Special Disney offers are featured regularly for families with young children. The main areas are clean and welcoming and there’s lots of parking outside.
Thoroughly recommend the cinema and it’s a great asset for the town.

30 mile round trip to see one-off live event to be told satellite not working; not the first time this has happened. Waste of petrol and evening, very disappointed. Received instant ticket refund but really, could someone not have checked the satellite beforehand? Very reluctant to see another 'event' showing at this cinema.

Chicken burger with extras options 2 is best burger in Thurso.

Hi, I am providing feedback after receiving the worst cinema experience I have ever received. I attended the Merlin cinema in Thurso, Scotland at 1700 hours laat night. I ordered food in the restaurant at 1715 with 4 friends and 2 children. Our starters took a long time and arrived at 1750. We asked for our mains to be brought out as soon as they were ready as we had a movie to see at 1800. We asked at 1805, how long our main courses would be to be told around 15 minutes. We stressed that we had a movie to see and we were already going to be late, the waiter apologised as there was only one chef on but we pointed out there was only ourselves and another table who had to leave as their food was taking soo long. Our main course was brought out at 1820 and was definitely not worth the wait. Our pizzas were a thin cardboard base with some toppings flung on. We went to pay and the card machine wasn't working. I went to get pik n mix sweets to find there was only half of the selection of sweets available and the ones there were stale and hard. I also tried to buy a Pepsi max which also wasnt working. After waiting even longer we asked if we could go to the movie and pay after as we were now 15 minutes past the showing time to which the manager agreed. We came out of the cinema and were asked to pay the full amount of food, cinema and snacks which I was completely dissatisfied with. The full experience was terrible and we will not be returning.

Lovely place. Not too far from the centre of town. Great little cinema. We had the deal of a two course meal and ticket to see the film for £18-95 each !
The restaurant is very nice. Our starters were really good - Nachos and chicken strips. We both had a pizza for our mains and they were fab.
The cinema has 5 screens. The seats are really comfy.
Definitely recommend a visit here. We really enjoyed it.

In town for one night. Decided to catch a movie at this superb little two screen cinema. Wish there was more small town cinemas like this one. Super friendly staff. See you at the movies!!!!

Not only a good modern cinema but also a fine pub dining style restaurant and bar included. Easy to find and plenty of parking, recommended not least because of the friendly staff.
