When you are way up at the top of Scotland you realise that there is a lot to do and to see. It is in fact a micro climate up there where the weather changes suddenly. The castle itself is a ruin but the history...More

Google maps takes you down a lane full of pot holes and the castle is on a remote headland just outside the town. Not much left but very evocative and worth seeing.

The location of these castle ruins is more impressive than the ruins themselves. That being said, the location is really impressive. It sits on a piece of land that juts into the ocean with inlets on each side about 40 or 50 feet down. There's...More

The words inscribed into the stone of this castle says Herlots Hospital 1874. However the scenery around here matches any around this part of the country. The castle itself is well worth the visit if only to take in the surroundings

Lovely position on dramatic cliffs overlooking the ferocious North Sea - just along past the local swimming spot on the rocks, called the Trinkie. The castle dating from 1100s when the Norsemen were in charge - but just a sad ruin now. Great photography of...More

This is a must for anyone coming to this glorious part of the world. It is a 45 minute walk from Wick, or you can get fairly close to it by car. It sits on Rocky outcrops and is introduced by a detailed board. I...More

This is not as amazing as the nearby Castle Sinclair Girnige and little remains beyond the keep walls. It's also a less pleasant walk which seems to pass by a military range but as you get near you are by a step sea inlet with...More

A good walk but not really accessible for a wheelchair. Good piece of history and well worth the walk through some meadows and up some light hills but mostly flat depending on which carpark you use
