About
The Waterways Tour is an Adult only guided cycle tour on flat cycle paths, canal towpaths and some minor roads. We use comfortable cruiser bikes which are easy to ride. Our tour takes us out of the city as we ride along the River Ness going through the beautiful Ness Islands then we will stop for 20 minutes at the Inverness Botanical Gardens before we ride along the world famous Caledonian Canal viewing the stairway locks at Muirtown therafter we head through the only nature reserve in the Highlands hopefully seeing otters, dolphins and interesting birds before heading back along the River Ness to the city. Distance covered 10km. Duration 2 hours. Pleade note the tours will still run in light rain.

Great tour of Inverness using bike paths and canal roads. Alison gives you a wonderful experience explaining sites, plenty of stops, and clear directions to keep you safe and all together. The path is a nice ride—not super difficult since you pedal the entire ride.

Alison met us with her trusty steeds (hybrid bikes sized for us) and took us off on an informative and entertaining tour of the interesting parts of Inverness we may have missed had we been left to our own devices. These sorts of tours must be self-selective, as we enjoyed the company of our co-cyclists and even spent time with them after the tour. Alison is a wealth of local information and was genuinely interested in sharing her enthusiasm for her home town with us.

My husband and I had a very enjoyable ride through Inverness with Alison! She's lived in Inverness her entire life and can speak not only abut the city's history but also what changes she's seen and experienced over her lifetime. We made several stops along the way to see some interesting wildlife, important historical sites, and gorgeous landscape. The weather was perfect, and the coffee drinks we had from Milk Bar after our ride were delicious.

Allison did a fantastic job leading us around and telling us fascinating things about the waterways, etc. Stopped by the botanical gardens, cruised through small islands on the River Ness, and learned about lochs on the Caledonian Canal. Fun trip and the right amount of time.

We really enjoyed the bike tour exploring very beautiful parts of Inverness. The guide, who is a true Invernesian, knows a lot about the city and it's surroundings. We absolutely recommend taking the tour.

The waterways bike tour led by Alison was spectacular. You cover a ton of ground at a leisurely pace and the tour is accompanied by history and entertaining anecdotes. This bike tour was without a doubt my favorite activity during my stay in Inverness. I couldn't recommend it more highly!

We had a great time with Alison's company. We were able to discover different places we would never have been to without the help of a guide. Alison is very professional and knows Inverness inside out. We recommend this walk, which is rich in history. Many thanks to Alison. We really enjoyed the day.

Hello!
We will be coming on the train from Edinburgh on Monday, August 8th. The train is due to arrive at 2:15 PM. I have scheduled your bike tour for that day which begins at 2:45. I know it is cutting it close but we already had our train tickets when I came across your bike tour and available times.
Since you would be more familiar with the punctuality of the local trains, do they tend to be on time? I see on the map that you are just a few minutes walk from the train station, but I also know that you'd like us to arrive by 2:30. Do you think we'll be okay timewise?
I also wanted to find out if you have a secure place we could store 3 small bags while we are on the bike ride since we will not have time to check in to our hotel first.

Hi, we would be travelling in the month of May with 2 kids both aged 6 year old, do you have a carry along option in mountain bike tour on the same bike ? also let me know how safe is that ? and cost per adult and kid

Hi, I am very sorry our tours are Adults only, we do not have tag alongs for small children. We can accommodate teenagers if they are good cyclists and can confidently complete the 6 miles route.

Hi
Thank you for your enquiry. Our bike tours depart 3 times daily at 10am, 1pm and 3.45pm. and last 2 hours. We have availability for 8 people on all our tours on the 6th July currently. The 1pm tour is best suited to you request. The cost is 21 pounds per person. The tours are adults only so 20 years old is good, we will accommodate teenagers as long as they can ride a bike well and meet our minimum height of 4ft 10. We can also do a private tour for your party which would cost 210 pounds this blocks out anyone else joining the tour and can give you flexibility on the tour to stay longer / shorter at the sights we see. If you are interested in booking we require payment via Pay Pal to confirm your places.
