We just finished our four day tour of Inverness, Loch Ness, Isle of Skye and many other spots with Jenni and I just wanted to let you know that it was a tremendous experience and will always be a significant part of the memories we take away from our holiday here. We are in the UK in total for three weeks, starting and ending in London, with stops in Edinburgh, Inverness, Portree, Fort William and Glasgow. While we have not completed that journey as I write this, Jenni and the time she spent with us has been a true highlight. She spent time in advance researching what we might like, and each evening as we were sleeping she was thinking about how to make our time the next day even better than the one we had previously. We were able to see some tourist sites that many others see, such as Urquhart, Dunvegan, Cawdor, Eilean Donan and Dunrobin Castles, Man of Storr, etc., yet perhaps what we will remember the most are those off the beaten path places she showed us.
We were talking as a family at dinner tonight about what we enjoyed most over the past few days and it was checking out a dairy where we could make milkshakes, going to a "wee" bakery in the middle of nowhere with fantasy-like buildings, seeing Highland cows and Shetland ponies, visiting a dinosaur museum with relics from years ago, and getting fresh, delicious cheese from vending machines, hot chocolate from the best little village we've never heard of and so much more. We heard stories, lore and a ton of facts about Scotland and its history as we passed through it and feel as if we know more about your history than we do of our own country.
Jenni made our kid feel as if they were a part of the tour as well. As someone who is pretty shy, it can be hard to get them to engage fully, but the two of them hit it off pretty quickly and by the end were fast friends.
All of that to say that you have a true gem in Jenni. We felt like royalty, like we were the only thing on her mind and she was working to do her best to make our trip the best it could possibly be. It was a huge deal for me, as I am almost always the driver on our vacations, and I was able to just be a part of everything without any worry. We feel so fortunate to have found your company and it just must have been meant to be you paired us up with Jenni. She was a true delight and we will always remember the four days we had touring around Scotland with her. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience :).

We were traveling with our adult children. Our tour guide, Amanda, made this trip perfect! She kept us on time for ferries, knew the best spots to stop for views and shared information about sites as we drove by. She also stopped at several places we would not have known about: a pasture where we had a view of a castle on a lake, a wee coffee shop, an incredible place for lunch on Skye, a beautiful stone church, wonderful food and shops. Amanda answered our questions about life in Scotland - we learned so much from her. She was so friendly and knowledgeable - we all absolutely loved her. Arranging the tour with Inverness was very easy. We had several things in mind we wanted to see and Ian helped map out the itinerary to make sure we hit our highlights.

What an amazing tour! This was our second time touring with Inverness Custom Tours and I thought after our first tour that they could not have created a more special tour. Well, they DID! We covered a lot of ground from our home base to Stirling to our next base in Oban then wayyy up to Orkney. Our tour included castles, palaces, ruins, wee walks in amazing natural places, ferry rides, and pre history.. such a variety of stops that were selected to match our interests. Highlights include Falkland Palace, Art in Nature Walk on Mull, everything Orkney but especially Happy Valley and a wee walk to Bruar Falls!
We were so fortunate to have again the amazing Amanda as our guide. She has a great sense of humor, is patient, extremely knowledgeable about everything Scotland and is simply an absolute joy to tour with. We are especially interested in Scotland’s history and culture and she delivered and then some! There was no dull recitation of facts and dates but a fluid interweaving of history, legend and culture.
If you are looking to visit Scotland you can’t do better than Inverness Custom Tours, unless you tour with their sister company Inverness Day Tours. Laura Moon & Ian Deveney have set the bar for best in the industry custom tours. They are organized, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing their country. They will create for you an adventure with memories to last a lifetime.

My husband and I spent 9 days with Laura (co-owner) of Inverness Custom Tours. She met us at Glenapp Castle and spent the next 9 days touring the country as our tour guide and driver. We can’t say enough about how wonderful the experience was. She was informative, funny and engaging. Most of all, she was able to customize our itinerary to our likes and interests. We would highly recommend their services.

We wanted to visit Scotland with a small group of our friends and were looking for a good tour company. I had seen some good reviews on Rick Steves Europe website about Inverness Custom Tours. After researching and directly contacting several tour companies, I decided to go with Inverness Custom Tours. It was the best decision we could have made! It is a family owned business, with years of experience, and local tour guides that take you to incredible, spectacular destinations.
Our private small group tour guide Ian, was incredible and quickly became our "new friend". Our tour started in Edinburgh and we headed out to explore the Isle of Skye and the Highlands with its breath taking landscapes, historic landmarks, epic castles, and quaint villages such as the cultural cute town of Portree. Ian was the best tour guide you could ever have! He is an historian, knows the legends and folklore of Scotland, is a storyteller and went out of his way daily to customize our tour so we could see and do what we all wanted.
We even met with an unforgettable woman who invited us to her sheep farm where we were able feed her animals, learn about the history and her daily life as a Scottish sheep farmer. She even showed us one of her intricate hand knitted sweaters and explained its historical meaning. We met with the locals, shopped in the quiet villages, enjoyed incredible food, had great accommodations with beautiful views and traveled along the countryside on the "off the beaten path" so we really were able to see the real Scotland and its friendly people
We ended our tour with the day and night at Crossbasket Castle in Glasgow, Scotland. Thank you Ian for an excursion of a lifetime and lifetime of memories!

We spent a total of seven days with Ian, touring the Highlands and the Isle of Skye. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. Ian's deep knowledge of and passion for Scotland and its history was evident from the start. We are both history nerds, and he brought Scotland's history alive for us. He knew all the beautiful places to take us (as well as some places that were best to avoid). He made our time in Scotland special, and we are definitely planning to come back to share more journeys with him.

Had a wonderful day in and around Inverness with our guide Dave Fyfe. We visited Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor Castle and Urquart Castle and Loch Ness. Dave sure knows his history and is a great story teller. I even loved his corny jokes. Thanks Dave for a perfect day in Inverness. Slainte

From the start, the team was responsive and attentive. We explained our idea and they formulated a plan. Sandy, our guide executed our itinerary flawlessly. It was truly a memorable adventure across the Highlands! The vehicle was fantastical as well the extra stops for delicious food, interesting sites, Highland coos and a legendary monster. Thank you for making Dad look good, my family is very appreciative.

My husband and me have spent 10 days in a totally customized tour around Higlands both mainland and Islands with Ian Deveny this august 2021, and we can only say magic and perfect¡¡.
From the initial contact to get some inspiration and ideas, to the full detalied planification of each day and places to visit and the final journey itself, everything was amazing. A perfect combination of historical places, beaches, mountains, valleys, lochs, destileries, food experiences and small towns, that make this tour a once in a life experience. Ian empathy, experience and knowledge made our trip top of the best with his explanations about historical facts, arquitecture, nature, wild life and legends.
The car is fabolous big and confortable and Ian takes care of any single detail to make all perfect
I would totally recommend them and we will repeat as soon as we can. Thanks a lot Ian hope to see you soon

Ian and his network of tour guides with Inverness Custom Tours made our family’s 10 days exploring Scotland an incredible vacation to remember. In the months leading up to the trip, Ian worked with us to build a custom itinerary designed to include his expert recommendations and highlights plus some activities we requested - from history to sports to nature to food. With full agendas each day, each guide brought the history and culture of what we were seeing to life with their knowledge and storytelling. Ian was even able to make adjustments at the last minute to stop for Scotland’s best chocolate cake for my grandson’s 12th birthday!
Thank you, Ian and team, for such a wonderful experience and happy memories. We hope to be back again soon and highly recommend ICT!
