I hiked The Great Glen Way. And the monument marking the end of the walk is on the grounds of this facility. This is not an ancient castle, I think under two hundred years old. But gorgeous none the less!! And still in use today!
We went up to the castle which is easy to reach from the city centre. The views were nice but didn’t feel it is worth paying £5 to go to the viewing tower. The castle is used as a court house also. It is windy...More
We wandered up to the Castle Viewpoint as we were checking out the town. The castle was closed, but the balcony is open and lovely to check out the surrounding view. Best place to get pictures of the town.
Without going up the Tower at the Inverness Castle, you can get a great free view of the surrounding area from the Castle hill viewpoint. Beautiful view looking down at the River Ness. Great place to gather and meet people as well.
