- Ellie BInverness, United Kingdom15 contributionsExcellent venueWe had a work night out last night and as there was 14 of us, it was difficult to find somewhere. We went into The Malt Room and they gave us the upstairs room, it was an excellent venue. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Our night was brilliant, thank you to the staff- John, Nik and Olivia.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 17 December 2023
- Maggie Hume3 contributionsAn expected yet unexpected treat! We arrived as a group of 14 locals , around 5pm on 15/12/23, having had our work Christmas lunch elsewhere in town. John, Olivia and Nik welcomed us with the usual warmth and professional familiarity. Very unexpectedly, and to our huge pleasure, we were offered access to the upstairs space with it’s homely ambience around the fire. Our evening was fantastic, we ordered drinks downstairs and one of the team delivered them to us (probably wise on their part as our party continued!) What a wonderful space to be with friends, chat, have a sing song and just relax. We hadn’t booked the space , it was circumstance that made it available- right time right place. However I would highly recommend you doing so if you are looking to do all of the above in a classy, comfy, kind space.Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 18 December 2023
- Jan Jelmer MGroningen, The Netherlands10 contributionsCozy whisky-bar no one can afford to missAmazing and cosy little whisky-bar no whiskylover can afford to skip! Nice selection of Whiskey's, multiple tasting-options (Route 500 options present!!) and a special Old Fashioned cocktail. An evening well spent!Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 28 April 2024
- rsdavisnet25 contributionsThe finest place to spend an evening in InvernessA very warm and inviting space with a wonderful selection of malts. Chris and Olivia (!) were fantastic. They were very welcoming, and poured us some outrageously splendid drams. Once they knew our tastes, they picked some of the best whisky we tasted on our 3-week visit to Scotland. We spent 3 amazing evenings there. For me and my dear friends (Pieter Bruegel and Albrecht Dürer included), this is the best whisky bar in Inverness... hands down. We will be back.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 19 May 2024
- KyTravelsSyracuse, New York88 contributionsSecluded little gem!Stopped while walking around, found this LOVELY spot. Low lighting, great drinks, super friendly and helpful staff. I was a little off-put by the crowd outside in the alley, only in that they were leaving their trash EVERYWHERE. But the inside was gorgeous and cozy. They were able to offer up fantastic whisky recommendations, and even went as far as placing the bottles on the bar so we could look at the bottles up close. It was a great time, and we would probably be regulars if we lived in the area.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 August 2024

Stopped in with my father on the strong recommendation from an excellent server at nearby Kitchen. We had been on the Isle of Skye all day, it was our last day in Inverness, and we were looking for somewhere specializing in whisky with a good selection and a knowledgeable staff to finish off the day. We arrived at the Malt room and were the only guests other than a couple at the bar who were friends with the bartender. We looked at a menu and attempted to speak with the bartender and get some suggestions or opinions, but he was pretty focused on his friends so we just ordered a few drams and sat down. After a while some regulars started coming in and were super friendly. One, who was an expat from the US, gave us some great recommendations. After a few rounds we asked for the bill, and the bartender had charged us for Glenlivet that we didn't order, but he took it off upon pointing it out so I'll presume it was a mistake.
Overall we were really happy with the selection and comfort of the bar, and the friendly regulars were a plus, but didn't feel particularly welcome by the service.

As we were enjoying several different whiskies, I commented that this is exactly how a whisky bar should be - small/cozy, inviting, trusting (you don't have to pay each time you get a drink, or leave your card for a tab) and convivial - you strike up conversations easily with others around you. We didn't think we'd like many Scotches because we don't like peat or smoke, but we sampled 4 different ones that were sweet and smooth. Excellent, friendly barmen made for a memorable night.

The Malt Room is just about everything a great whisky bar should be - intimate, welcoming, character of it's own and of course a great selection of whisky! I went two of the four nights I was in Inverness. The first night I explored some drams of scotch which I had not otherwise seen and probably will not find back in the states. I also discovered they had one of my favorite American bourbons, so I of course had to enjoy a few drams of WLW as well! The staff was friendly & knowledgeable, the whisky great and the time spent at The Malt Room memorable. Speaking of memorable, the drink menu is broken down into three categories, Memorable, Magnificent and one I cannot remember. Given my mindset at the time, I stuck strictly with the Magnificent - YOLO! Cheers!!!

Our whiskey tasting day trip got cancelled and we luckily stumbled across this place. Very cozy, very knowledgeable staff - an almost private whiskey tasting experience as we could tailor what we wanted to try and weren’t limited to just one distillery. we couldn’t have hoped for a nicer afternoon (We visited on a Monday). They also have a group tasting room upstairs. Nice mix
Of locals and tourists too. Defo recommend!

As newcomers to Scottish Whisky’s we were taken into a massive adventure of the origins of several of them. Sarah was our hostess and shared passionately about every Scotch we were about to have and was carefully listening to our feedback. We enjoyed our evening and would definitely recommend people who love service and share the love of Whisky.

This is a brilliant little bar to sample whisky but there are lovely cocktails and other drinks too. extensive selection of whiskies and knowledgeable and friendly staff who took time to recommend and explain the whisky. It doesn’t feel like a tourist trap and is clearly popular with locals while giving tourists like me a warm welcome. It’s small so get there early to get a seat.

An absolute gem of a bar, so unassuming and underestimated in taste and design . An outstanding offering of its namesake whiskey, coupled with some exceptional Gins and sumptuous wines. The thought that’s gone into the design of this place is mirrored in their drinks list and unbeknown to me they serve amazing cocktails also…

Fabulous wee place tucked away off Church Street, Inverness. Great selection of gins, malt whiskies and cocktails with some interesting craft ales from nearby Dog Falls Brewery. The team demonstrated great knowledge on all of the drinks available

What an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! Huge shoutout of thanks to Charlie and his team who walked us through flights of whiskeys, sharing the history of each, customizing a tasting and most of all giving us an incredible whiskey experience that we will never forget! Thank you so much Charlie for your charisma, humbleness to teach us so much and plain out… knowing your sh*t! What a great experience. Thank you again!

This bar has a great atmosphere and the staff are welcoming, friendly and knowledgable.
We are not whisky drinkers so had the cocktails which were beautifully presented and tasted amazing! The glasses of water and them being topped up is a nice touch too.
The communal loo is not my preference (but I appreciate space constraints) but this will not put me off visiting again soon.

Slightly pretentious and expensive I’m not a whisky drinker but would probably would of felt more welcome if I was a tourist spending copious amounts of money on not a lot.
If you can get past that it’s a nice little bar with a reasonable selection of whiskey if that’s your tipple.

The bartenders were very knowledgeable and friendly. Gave them free reign on a recommendations and I was surprised by the amazing drams they choose for us and at a reasonable price. We are local and it’s our favourite bar anytime we are in town.
