    Great night out at Gellions
Brilliant night out in Inverness Important information: located in city centre close to the bridge. Efficient service even at busy times. Shows sport during the day. Open late. Alcohol: excellent range of drinks Good choice of gins and the lemonade mixer remained fizzy. Live music: love a venue with live music! Good range of songs - mixture of crowd pleasers, Scottish classics & surprising choices. Made a great atmosphere - friendly & happy. Fun fact: WKD blue sold here!

Great bar, Jeffy is a great bar person
Jeffy, great hostest, showed me lots of drinks, very friendly, looked after me and my friends, very friendly, she was amazing and this isnt even her full time job. Gave advice on the local area. The best bar in Inverness.

    Fabulous
My other favourite venue in Inverness. What's not to like; great live music, great punters and atmosphere in the main bar. Want to have a quiet drink? Quiet lounge through the back. Bigger stage with a dance floor? Upstairs. This place has it all. Been many times, and never had a dull night yet.

The daytime staff are warm and friendly - the evening staff are quite the opposite.
Yesterday (Saturday) I booked a table which I was told would be at the back on the bar away from the live music. I turned up early and sat at another table. The couple who had booked my table turned up at 8:30 - 30 minutes late. And I duly moved. Today I spent the afternoon there and booked a table near the front from 8:00.
I was 15 minutes late and found they had given my table away (despite taking my mobile number upon booking). When I protested I was accused of being aggressive (which I wasn’t). They had given my table away to one person who they could have moved as they had done with me the day before but refused categorically and offered me a table at the rear of the pub far away from the live music which was my reason for going there on the first place when I protested that the couple the previous night had been 30 minutes late and I had still moved, the bar manager was herself aggressive and told me not to accuse her of lying. I would say go there in the day and you will have a pleasant experience- go there in the evening and you will be treated like dicier. This has completely ruined my visit to Inverness.

On the suggestion of our guesthouse landlady, we went in looking for live music. We were not disappointed as the excellent and mind blowing Ruairidh MacLean wowed us with his contemporary take on the accordion. The atmosphere was superb, old school, raucous, Scottish craic, with a distinctly cosmopolitan flavour; Americans, English, Spaniards, Danes and Italians all mixing and carousing enthusiastically with locals. Exactly what we hoped and a terrific night!

Great night out, great beers, staff were very helpful. The performers were great carrying the crowd along singing and dancing. Right good foot tapping music..

Good mix in the crowd, young old tourists like us and locals who knew the performers. One performer was well know and played some amazing music from solo artists to band music such as ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynrd.

Much like going into a traditional Irish bar where the Irish pipes, drums and fiddles are going ten to the dozen.

Several friends recommended Gellion's to us; however, we regretted going. This was our first trip to Inverness and Gellion's ended up being the worst worst experience by far in the three days we spent in this wonderful city. When ordering our second drink tonight (Thursday), I waited over 15 minutes at the bar leaving my wife at our table. After being overlooked for the third time, I tried to explain to the female bar staff that I had been in the queue longer than the person she was serving. I was not prepared for the angry, irrational tirade that came my way. There was a whole bar to serve and it was impossible to keep track of who was next, I was told. Having worked in a bar for many years, I told her I appreciated that but I had been waiting quite a while and longer than the person she was serving. I asked if she would take my order only to be told that she was too busy. She then went on to ignore me and serve the person that came to the bar after me. I am by no means a shrinking violet, but she was incredibly rude. We decided to leave and go to the Highlander to continue and end our night. While it was more busy than Gellion's, the staff were more than friendly and we didn't have to wait to be served. Won't be rushing to this bar again. However, I can recommend The Highlander if you want a good night and respectful, timeous service.

The girl who served us was amazing and and a fantastic source of information about the rules regarding social distancing.

We left and came back later to be abruptly told by the Barman/Supervisor that the bar was closing and to ‘get out’ while there were still loads of folk in the bar. The way he spoke to us is completely unacceptable. It was apparent that this guy was not fond of our bubbly personalities when we were first in. We stuck to the social distancing rules, so no issue there. I also noticed he was not very nice with other punters who were smoking outside and didn’t realise that they needed to be seated.

it’s a wonder that you’re getting any custom at all with that kind of attitude! Especially at a time like this!

Nothing but an absolute bellend.

Gellion’s is pretty much your average Scottish pub laced with character which has its pros and cons. Drinks are reasonably priced and on a Saturday the place is full of atmosphere.
Toilets are pretty dire with their one saving grace being the whisky condom vending machine that’ll give you a laugh as you’re pattering about in the urine covered floors trying to squeeze in to a urinal. Like I say… character!
Speaking of characters the staff are generally lovely and attentive with the younger ones seeming happier in their job and a joy to speak to. One older lady in the bar adjacent could give Basil Fawlty a run for his money with her thorny manner and permanent state of existential crisis being more than a little off-putting. Probably best to stick to the main bar.

Notice at the bar stated cocktails £5 which I thought was a really good price so ordered an expresso martini. My husband had a pint of lager. Bill came to £14.95. Another menu on our table showed same cocktail at £7.95. When we queried the price for 2 drinks we were told the prices changed yesterday and cocktail was now £9. £4 more expensive than I'd expected to pay. We felt we'd been ripped off. I know cocktails are expensive but to advertise at £5 and charge £9 is very wrong

Was in a group walking past and looked a lively bar, still full of football fans from Celtic Rangers game earlier in the day. Went in and was a great atmosphere and a mix of both sets of fans getting on fantastically. Was live music on throughout, would visit again if in the area.

The music was great, but the establishment was let down by one staff member. On arrival I ordered drinks for myself and my partner, only to be shouted at “take your mask off I can’t hear you” by the bar staff, a sign directly behind the bar staff clearly stated masks should be worn while ordering.
At the end of the night, my partner and I enquired what “drinking up” time was, we were told we had half an hour, around 15 mins into this the originally mentioned bar staff started screaming at pretty much all the people who were still drinking (as was allowed) and again used offensive language towards them including us. On our exit, we thanked the good staff members who apologised for the actions of the one who made everyone’s life a bit I’d a misery, I truly hope she can find the help she clearly needs.

Walked into this bar which had live music, was looking forward to spending time here until we arrived at the bar. Stood for at least 20 minutes and bar staff walked past serving everyone else but us. Was so disgusted we walked out, have a bit of respect for new customers! Definitely won’t be back.
