We just completed a 14 day custom tour with Andrew MacDonald of Hame Tours. Andrew worked with us closely during the planning process to create exactly what we wanted and even more.
Once we arrived in Edinburgh, Andrew picked us up and for the next 2 weeks chauffeured us + enlightened us + entertained us + took care of all of our needs; no request really felt too large or too small.
Our trip was a dream come true, in large part because of Andrew and his expertise + sincere love for his country + gift of hospitality. We especially enjoyed being serenaded, as Andrew often used his musical gifts to tell about history through folk music.
In the early days of our planning phase we were unsure of whether we needed to employ the services of a guide, however, now in retrospect, we can easily see that hiring Andrew was exactly the right decision.
We feel like we have made a life-long friend and highly recommend Andrew MacDonald's expertise and services for any type of tour of Scotland.

During my first trip to the UK, I spent 3 days with Andrew MacDonald. He was my driver and guide through Inverness and St. Andrews. He knew my interest in the Outlander series, and we stopped at every filming site along the way, with Andrew reminding me of the scenes filmed at each location. He provided history of castles and forts, and local points of interests, as well as supplied entertainment along the drive. He sang some Scottish songs that were in line with our tour at that moment, as well as recited poetry from the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns. Knowing I am a big Royals fan, Andrew took me by the pub in St. Andrews where Kate met William! And he went out of his way to help me find a particular gift shop, so I could purchase gifts I was asked to bring home. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Andrew, and look forward to my next trip with him.

We did a full day Outlander Tour with our guide Michael. He was on time, professional, and friendly. It was the best day of our 10-day Scotland trip. Michael was knowledgeable and flexible (we were able to change our itinerary on the go). I would highly recommend Hame Tours and especially Michael (his personality and sense oh humor were a big reason we had a great day).

We can’t say enough positive things about our experience with Hame Tours and our guide, Seòras MacInnes. Our travel over to Scotland was rocky to say the least but we got up the next morning for the tour and went on to have one of the most memorable days of our lives. We traveled to Dunrobin Castle, followed by a lovely lunch and then a stunning journey to Durness and the Smoo Cave on the NW tip of Scotland. Then, back down a different route for more breathtaking scenery, wildlife, and finally a sighting of the elusive Highland Coos! Seòras was a wealth of knowledge about the country, geography, geology, history, and wildlife. He really made the tour unique and entertaining. We truly will never forget it and would do it again and again without hesitation. Would also like to mention that arranging the tour in advance through our hotel, Ness Walk, was a breeze and Andrew was very accommodating and flexible. Don’t miss a Hame Tour experience if you have the opportunity!

Ryan is amazing, both as a driver and as a tour guide! With a family history dating back several generations in Inverness, he is a wealth of local and general Scottish history and lore. He’s also very amiable and patient. He gathered information about our expectations before suggesting the plan for the tour. His vehicle is in great condition and well-kept. He has my strongest recommendation.

We can’t say enough about Michael our driver. We knew we were in for a good day when he pulled up in a very nice Mercedes van. Dressed in his family clan tartan, he was witty, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. He gave us a great Outlander experience. We would recommend this tour to anyone, Outlander fan or not.

Andrew toured us around the Edinburgh area and up to Inverness from St Andrews. He was terrific! He was very personable and friendly, and his knowledge of Scotland-past and present-was incredible. He was very flexible and did his best to make sure we saw everything we wanted to see.

We had a terrific time with Andrew and Michael as our guides over about a week…lots of history, beautiful country, local knowledge, and best of all - good fun and laughs that will add to our great memories of the trip. It was like we had Scottish friends along on the trip to guide us. Highly recommend.

We had a magnificent 2-day tour of Isle of Skye with our amazing guide, Seoras! He was professional, knowledgeable, and personable and was intuitive when it came to our individual needs. I have some disabilities that lead to various limitations, but Seoras made certain to give my son excursions to places I could not reach while taking me to similar places so that I could get the most out of each experience. We had a great time and learned a lot while we were all together and during those few occasions that we were apart. Because of our guide we got the most out of our travel experience to Isle of Skye. We definitely plan to go back!

Have often visited here, and observed and photographed it for its' historic significance. It is now frequented by Outlander fans who do not all seem to realise that this was a burial site not a film set - the Outlander 'story' came much later!.

I arrive on 17 June around noon, coming from a retreat at Huntly, Aberdeen. I will stay at Macdonald House for a night.
What can I do upon arrival if i sign up for a tour with you?
There are already walking attractions where I will stay.
Can/Should a trip be done from noon? To see Loch Ness etc?
How much will it cost?
