- Anthony WDartford, United Kingdom41 contributions5 Star ServiceThank you to Ticket to Ride for a well organised bike hire experience from booking to return. The booking system was easy and Ticket to Ride answered any queries that I had prior to collection of the bike. Collection was efficient and the Trek Domane AL 4 served me well on a three day tour of the Highlands. There were no mechanical issues or punctures throughout the whole tour despite facing some challenges from the stormy weather. The staff member (I didn't get his name) was keen to know where we were going and he gave us some safety advice on part of our route. A superb service from start to finish that I'd definitely use again.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 9 April 2024
- stéphane b11 contributionsGorgeousTicket to ride is a great team that listens very well. We hired 2 flat bar bikes and 2 electric bikes for a 10 day tour of the Outer Hebrides and West Highland Coast. Breathtaking landscapes, cycling on very small roads and incredible weather!!! We have lots of stars in our eyes. Don't hesitate to allow time and deviate a little from the planned route, it's full of nice surprises. The equipment was in very good, almost new condition (A 3rd chainring would have been welcome given certain hills, but it did it!). Stella drove us in a mini van to Oban and returned to collect us in Kylesku. Punctual, accommodating, super friendly, a great meeting. Thanks to her and to the entire Ticket to Ride staff who were able to respond to all our requests. I recommend without any reservation.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 3 May 2024
- Greg M1 contributionFlawless 9 day bike packing rental. The staff was great helping plan the rental prior to arriving in Europe. They also did a fantastic job fine tuning the bike the day of. The bicycle was exceptionally well equipped. Highly recommend for any bike packing trip.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 21 May 2024
- gela-girlLondon, United Kingdom17 contributionsThe smoothest way to cycle in the HighlandsWhat an amazing find this company was - emailed queries were replied to really fast, picking up the bike was completely frictionless, it's a very professional set-up. I know nothing about bikes but even I could tell that the one I hired was solid and very well maintained. On top of that, the team are friendly and helpful and gave me lots of tips about finding the main cycle routes. Best of all, I felt they would have had my back if I needed them. Luckily, the bike was completely problem-free and a combination of it and my now Chris Hoy-like thighs (but probably mostly the bike) gave me eight truly magical days in some stunning areas of Scotland. It was an absolutely unforgettable trip. Thank you, TtR.Visited August 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 15 August 2024
- NoraWinterthur, Switzerland1 contributionOn the west coast and up northWe rented the bikes for eleven days. The staff was really kind, supportive and patient. They helped to plan our route and were very flexible when we changed our starting date of the bike trip. The bicycles were in a perfect condition, with a kit to fix them in case something happens but we never had any problems with them. We also hired panniers wich were great for all our laguage. It was an amazing time travelling in the nature and seeing all the details you would have missed if you weren’t on a bike.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 28 August 2024
- Tim GAberdeen, United Kingdom68 contributionsExcellent way to see the scenery!Excellent customer service from start to finish - we wanted to use our own bike trailer, and Richard was so helpful by email, making sure that we were prepared for when we arrived for collection by helping us confirm our bike trailer would fit the hired e-bikes. Overall, e-bikes are a great way to see the countryside surrounding Inverness, we got great weather and had a simply fantastic time. Bikes were of excellent quality and perfectly maintained. Can't fault it!Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 September 2024

- Stephen RMarket Lavington, United Kingdom35 contributionsGreat ebike hire experienceI hired an electric mountain bike from Ticket to Ride for 4 days of cycling around the Black Isle. The guys who looked after me when I picked up and returned the bike were really helpful, friendly and clearly explained to me, as a novice ebike user, how to use the electric drive system. The bike I hired was in excellent condition and very well maintained. I greatly enjoyed the cycling experience and whole heartedly recommend this company.Visited September 2024Travelled soloWritten 25 September 2024
- Emma T2 contributionsA fantastic experienceWe had e-bikes delivered to our hotel in Foyers. We are definitely not cyclists but thought it would be a fun way to explore the area. It was fantastic! The bikes were super easy to use and we were able to glide up the many hills without breaking a sweat! The service from Ticket to Ride was great from start to finish and I would highly recommend this as a fun way to explore such a beautiful area.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 October 2024

Top-notch bikes maintained by a friendly and well-informed team. We hired bikes to go to Muir of Ord, back, then onto Clava Cairns and back. The electric bike had *just* ran out of juice at that point but it lasted for a good 6 hours going up hills.
Although the bikes are slightly pricier than alternatives, you definitely get what you pay for - this was a real quality experience.

Thanks for choosing our service. It sounds like you made the most of the bikes and your available time to really explore the area. eBike range can be affected by many factors and it is difficult to predict accurately but 50 miles seems to be reasonably consistently achieved. We're conscious that our prices are higher than some other places but we know what our costs are and really couldn't deliver a standard of service we'd be content with for less. Having just spent a few days in London with my own family I am well aware of how expensive a holiday can be these days and how difficult it can be to choose an activity. Thanks for giving us your business, I'm really please you were satisfied with your choice.

We've hired bikes from Ticket to Ride quite a few times now, and it's always been a completely enjoyable experience. It's very nice that they remember us, even though we're only there once or twice a year. And they're always happy to chat about where we are going, about anything to do with the bikes, etc. They set the bikes up so well, they're really comfortable and ride really nicely, and they expertly and quickly make any adjustments that might be needed.
We were lucky because we booked really quite last-minute, and actually this had a very happy consequence for us: we weren't able to book the bikes on the train back to Inverness at the end of our holiday like we usually do. So we booked Ticket to Ride to transport us and the bikes back from Strathcarron. Ticket to Ride were also able to arrange this at not very much notice, which was great. But the best thing of all was how that pickup made such a lovely end to our holiday. Stella, one of their dedicated drivers, was so friendly and nice (and arrived in very good time) - and with a deep knowledge of the Highlands, cycling, and much else. So we had a wonderful conversation as we headed back to Inverness: she did this at the same time as providing a really comfortable ride through the not always easy roads that track from West to East.
Thanks so much to Stella and everyone else at Ticket to Ride, for yet another great hire. We can't wait to return...

Our service revolves around providing good quality bikes and equipment that are safe reliable. Reviews unsurprisingly often focus on the bikes (which we can take some credit for) and the journeys and landscapes (for which credit lies elsewhere). The bike hire process often involves transactional and technical discussions but there is more time to get to know our transport customers and this part of the job is often the most fun. I've been fortunate to recruit colleagues who are genuinely happy to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the Scottish Highlands and we learn a lot from the experiences of our customers. Thanks for taking the time to share your kind and considered comments. Hope to catch you on your next trip north.

I'm quite happy I found Ticket to Ride while in Inverness! My experience from beginning to end was great, and I can't recommend them enough. With fairly short notice, they replied to my hire inquiry, asked a few clarifying questions to make sure I was able to get on the bike I wanted, and had everything ready for me before the arranged pick-up time. The bike itself was clearly well maintained -- the gear changes were quick and crisp, the chain oiled, and the bike was in overall excellent condition.
I adapted one of their planned routes for a slightly longer tour of the Black Isle, and asked if they had any tips before leaving. They offered a heads up about a path closure that was handy once on the road, and when I returned several hours later, they seemed genuinely interested in my ride.
If you're looking to hire a bike that's safe to ride and excellently maintained, Ticket to Ride is a great option. I hope to return!

What a lovely review! That's a description of our service that I couldn't have written better myself. We're not infallible but we do our best to provide the best bike and advice for our customers based on our experience in the bike hire business and as locals who enjoy riding bikes. Hope you have more bike adventures in 2023.

We pre-booked a four-hour rental and got great advice on a Canal-side trip that took us nearly to Loch Ness and back through the city. We downloaded their dedicated app which guides you every step of the way – fantastic! We could really focus on the views rather than the map. Bikes were in excellent condition, and the young guy who got us set up was extremely helpful.

Thanks for the great review. I think you are one of the first to use the self-guided bike tour app. Glad it worked well for you and I'm confident it helps take the stress of getting ost away and provides a bit more information to enhance the overall cycling experience.

In April we rented bikes for two weeks to explore the north of Scotland. We sticked mostly to the NC 500 but changed the route sometimes because of too much traffic or heavy winds. We had absolutely no problems with the bikes, not even a flat tyre on rougher trails. Beside the bikes we got panniers and useful high-vis helmets. The panniers were big enough to carry all the things we needed, but couldn't stand really heavy rains (a plasticbag inside helped). Luckily we could leave some of our stuff in our backpacks at the store and collect them after our return. We had a really good time and enjoyed most parts of the trip very much, also because the bikes were really good. Thanks alot to the Crew for their caring and many tips!

We are Glad you enjoyed your trip around the NC500, The NC500 can be a bit busy especially on the east coast on the A9 which can be avoided if you come back through the middle inland and has equally if not better scenery and it is a lot more quieter and enjoyable.
The review is greatly appreciated

I hired a road/gravel bike from Charlie during a holiday near Loch Ness. The bike was perfect for teh mixed tracks around there and on the Black Isle. I had a brilliant time in on the orads and hills. The bike was perfectly maintained and the price perfect too. Charlie was a perfect gentleman and master craftsman and I could not recommend him and Ticket to Ride more highly.

Thanks for the great feedback and five star review. Wish I was out riding those routes today but it is a super "dreich" January morning. Looking forward to the start of our 2023 bike hire season in April.

Myself and a mate rented two mountain bikes from Ticket To Ride so that we could do the Great Glen Way. We also arranged transport from Inverness down to Fort William and baggage transfer through Ticket To Ride too. Ticket To Ride were a very good company to deal with, extremely helpful and very clear with their pricing. The bikes we hired were excellent quality with good accessories provided with them (tool kit, tyre levers, chain links, spare tubes, pumps etc). We enjoyed a comfortable journey down to Fort William from Inverness and our baggage was transferred from accommodation in Fort Augustus and Drumnadrochit each morning. Would genuinely recommend Ticket to Ride and will most definitely be using them again for two wheeled adventures in the future, an excellent company providing a great service.

Thanks for the great review. Your support for our small business is much appreciated too. The Great Glen Way is a lumpy route so getting bags moved makes each day a lot more enjoyable. I was riding around Speyside yesterday and will definitely be checking out The Speyside Way in more detail soon. It has been more popular with walkers than riders but there are tarmac alternatives to paths that are not so appealing for bikes.

I flew to Scotland to participate in a one day cycle from the Skye Bridge to the Kessock Bridge to raise money and awareness for Dream Believe Achieve Highlands and the Elsie Normington Foundation. As much as I'd like to have brought my own bike, airline fees and hassle made it an easy decision to hire a bike from Ticket to Ride. They stock decent touring bikes - Trek Domane - and had it all ready when I arrived to puck it up. I brought my own pedals, shoes, and helmet. They had it kitted out with spare tubes and tools. Nice guys to deal with. No complaints whatsoever.
Many thanks.

We hired mountain bikes to cycle the Great Glen Way to Drumnadrochit and then onto the Affric Kintail Way. The service from Ticket to Ride was fantastic, offering us spares because we we’re going to a remote area, and the bikes were brand new and coped very well with the terrain and panniers. We’d definitely use them again and would recommend them, only thing we’d suggest is that the booking process is streamlined a wee bit, so that payment is processed as the same time as booking.

Really appreciate your support and being so quick to get back out exploring after lockdown. That payment thing definitely needs some attention. It's semi-automatic but causes us a bit of admin work too. Will have a look at that over the winter.

A great bike rental operation. The pick up and drop off of our 5 bikes was seamless, with just enough instruction to get us on our way. Bikes were in great condition and high spec ( Treks Inc one ebike). Reasonable hire rates as well. Highly recommend. Kieran's Cape Wrath gang.
