Fascinating glimpse into Fort William's turbulent past! Well worth a visit though at the moment they prefer you to email or telephone to book before visiting. It's still free but they don't get much funding so there's a box to make a donation if you wish.

Cannot thank the volunteers at this museum enough, they are so knowledgeable and made the experience so much more enjoyable. Children can have a trail to follow, but there is enough there to keep them engaged, it's fascinating... Such a large collection and beautifully displayed and described. Wonderful.…

Although it is quite a small museum, there are loads of interesting exhibits. There are sections on the Commandos and the Jacobites.

We visited the museum today and were lucky enough to be walk ins. The museum has rigid COVID measures in place and feels very safe. Entry is free which is always great! The museum documents 8 different areas in history and is very interesting. The exhibits are interesting, of a high quality and well presented. There weren’t many people there so we were able to take our time and read everything. The route leads out to a well stocked gift shop and the staff are very friendly. If you’re in Fort William for a trip we’d definitely recommend giving this place a visit, and if you can afford it, a donation to make sure it stays open!…

We decided to vist the museum as we were staying in Fort William and had a spare morning. Wow, what a find. Lovely friendly and welcoming staff. Social distancing measures in place. You have to book to visit, but that was easy. Very informative museum, lots of good historical things to look at and read. Very well laid out. …
