About
We offer a full range of Mountain Guiding and Skills training in Summer and Winter. We specialise in guided ascents of Ben Nevis, in particular by the more technical routes. We run rock climbing courses, hills skills courses and guided scrambles and climbs in the Summer. In Winter we offer Winter Climbing, Mountaineering and Walking Skills courses. We are based locally in Fort William and our qualified and experienced guides will be there to look after you all the way!

We did the Aonach Eagach ridge with Dave last year and had an absolute blast then. We really enjoyed our trip in Scotland, so we decided to come back for another round in 2023 and give Tower Ridge a go. We had a cracking day out, and, as before, Dave was a super guide. His expertise on the routes, putting safety first, as well as his superb botany knowledge on the mountain; all made for an excellent and memorable trip. I would definitely recommend Dave as a guide, and we are already looking forward to the next trip to Scotland! Thanks, Dave!

Never disappointed with Lochaber guides! Dave has extensive outdoor knowledge and knows so much history behind the area and routes he guides. We got pretty poor weather on the Inn Pinn but Dave calmly assessed the situation and at no point did I feel out of my depth. I look forward to booking again.

The highlight of our holiday, Dave was a top bloke who has hooked us on Trad climbing. We will be back for more. After describing our current situation in climbing a day was well organised that fitted both the weather and our ability. We both loved the day out.

We enjoyed a great 2 days with Dave on Ben Nevis’s Tower Ridge and Buachaille Etive Mòr North Butress.
Dave gave us the confidence to push ourselves on both routes making sure everything was safe and gave guidance on the route. He was also a wealth of knowledge about other routes in the area as well as the wildlife and botanicals in the area. His positive attitude and good conversation made for a very memorable trip, will defiantly go out with him again.

Dave is the best imo, wouldn’t climb with anyone else. Utterly professional, safety paramount, works within people’s abilities, excellent people skills, first class helmets & harnesses, makes it enjoyable. Brilliant.
Dave took Norman and I up the Inn Pinn in April for one of the best days of our lives. Then this month, Dave took Norman, mate Dave, Ewan and I along the Aonach Eagach, ably assisted by the equally excellent Al Halewood, a close colleague of Dave Anderson. They even know a lot about mountain flora, adds to the enjoyment. Totally recommended. Doug Orr

Dave’s expert guidance and knowledge made our day on the ridge a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. Scrambling/exposure is not really our thing so we were a little apprehensive about the day - but it really could not have been better. We enjoyed chatting to Dave, he set a pace which suited us perfectly and generally managed the whole day with great skill. Thanks for a wonderful day Dave and we look forward to seeing you in the future !

We had an outstanding day with Dave from Lochaber guides on Curved Ridge on Buachaille etive Mor in glen Coe, he had real patience and was incredibly knowledgeable. My friend and I are, at best, novices when it comes to scrambling and he made us both feel at ease with what could have been a frightening experience. I have no doubt after Friday that we will be back for more (if he will have us that is!) Thank you again for a truly memorable amazing day.

A pair of us had a fantastic guided day out with Dave on Tower Ridge, Ben Nevis North Face. Trip was taken in May 2023, postponed from September 2022 due to stormy weather.
What a day. This was a birthday gift to my brother that I tagged along on. We had both had plenty of mountain days and scrambles on Aonach Eagach, Cuillins and others under our belt, we felt Dave gave us just the right level of support that we needed for the Tower Ridge climb. We worked up the nerve to 'lean' over the Tower 'gap' under Daves calm demeanour! And he put up with our endless chatter all day which is a skill in itself! Very much recommend a guided trip with Dave.

I had a great day doing the Aonach Eagach ridge with Dave. I have climbed a few Munro’s previously but this was my first real experience scrambling and Dave helped me with learning some of the techniques and also giving me the confidence to put them in practice and have a really enjoyable day. He is also really knowledgeable of the local area and was great company.
I would definitely recommend booking with Dave and Lochaber Guides to anyone and I’ll hopefully be booking again for another trip soon.

What a trip! The Cuillin traverse is on many a bucket list.......and rightly so. Dave.....where to start. The man is half mountain goat and half Saint. He safely and skillfully hoisted my wife and I (mainly me) along some lofty moments in the Cuillin. His passion for the mountains is infectious. But his attention to detail and to your own needs and requirements ensures you feel safe and well supported for the entirety of your time above the clouds. Would definitely recommend his services and will hopefully have a few more days with him ourselves in the years to come.
