Awesome couple of days with Iain in Glen Nevis, first scrambling and working on protecting a partner with a rope on Meall Cumhann in pouring rain, then my first trad climb on the Gutter at Polldubh again in pouring rain, but awesome fun. The second day was something special - Up Tower Ridge, down Ledge Route and back up Castle Ridge. Working again on some techniques Iain had taught me as we went. Exactly what I was looking/hoping for, and more!

After booking a guide to climb Ben Nevis in March of 2020 just as covid hit, we finally got to meet our guide in June of this year. Two+ years later we decided it was best to moderate our goals. We chose to hike to the Red Burn and to enjoy the experience and the fabulous scenery. Our guide, John, was very well informed about the flora, fauna and history of the area, and he did a fantastic job of helping two older adults navigate a few of the trickier turns on the way up and down that were slick due to the rain. Scott Kirkhope was also helpful in our many email communications between 2020 and 2022. We are in our 70s/80s; I would encourage anyone to not let age or disability stop you from having this wonderful experience. Do as much as you feel comfortable with and don't believe that the only objective is to reach the top. (But do bring trekking poles!)

Hi Elaine, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. You are right, the top isn't always the goal. Some days just being in the mountains can be an amazing experience on its own. We are glad we could be a part of your experience.

Scott and another guide guided us up Am Bastier and Sgurr nan Gillean on Skye, a day which required some simple rock climbing and abseiling. Scott was very patient with our party and good company and I will hopefully be using his services again next year. All the best Scott! Rupert

Beautiful weather, great walk and amazing scenery. Our guide Iain was full of information, stories and history of the area. He made the time fly by and we were able to forget about our tired legs on the decent. We would highly recommend hiring a guide to keep your group moving along or if you are fit but unfamiliar with the terrain it would not be difficult to get lost at the top or step off a cliff if the weather turned foul.

Fantastic day, thanks to our guide Andy. He explained the route and more importantly told us to set a pace that was sustainable… such good advice, as the coming back down is as strenuous as the going up. We had a great time and I would definitely recommend Kirkhope Mountaineering to enhance a great experience.
