I have traveled the globe and seen many sights; the Colosseum, Cologne Cathedral etc.. but nothing has or ever will come close to Eilean Donan. No matter who you are or where you come from, this sight is not to be missed. This beautiful castle is worth it so much I would recommend it above any other attraction. Because there... More

Visited this stunning castle whilst on holiday. Parked in car park and walked across. Open 10-5pm April to October but shorter hours in April and November. Coffee and gift shop. Amazingly interesting and great decor. Seeing behind the scenes in the kitchen and scullery. The awesome banqueting hall. A couple of hours should be ample to enjoy this castle. We... More

Unfortunately I only had time to take photos from the car park, but it looked lovely. Easy to spot from the main road.

Just as beautiful and picturesque as the pictures you see, but beware of all the tourists. The pictures capture this castle as lonesome, but it is right off the main road, and tons of tourists flock to see and take pictures. The loch around the castle if gorgeous too, with contrasting colors surrounding at the right time of year. So... More

Its usually summer activities but i prefer going there in winter because the the scenery you grab in winter you would never see this in any other season. Recommend going if you are a natures lover.

I have visited this castle three times, and each time I was so glad I went. Sitting on the island, it is incredibly picturesque. The most recent visit was during the Christmas holidays, so we had to be careful to mind the opening hours of the indoors of the castle as well as the gift shop. The cafe is NOT... More

Great place, guides are helpful and nice stop if passing by. Famous for the 'Highlander' film and the history of the place is quite fascinating.

Perhaps the most scenic castle in all of Scotland and one of the most photographed! Absolutely beautiful! It has been completely rebuilt by the MacRae family (I believe in the 1930's??). The castle was home of Clan Mackenzie until it was destroyed during the Highland clearances after the Battle of Culloden. You really need to stop and tour the castle... More

Personally, we didn't go in and visit the castle. But from the outside, it's the most beautiful castle I've ever been to! Definitely worth a visit if your driving to/from Skye via Inverness. It's in a lovely location and a nice place to stop to give yourself a break from driving.

May be not the greatest, nor the biggest, nor the prettier. But it is the most famous and probably the most charming one. As many places in Scotland, it is a travel through time, and all the nature around is also a great view!
