The information centre and shop on the station helps support the Friends of the Kyle railway. Volunteers travel on some trains to give information but what they have to sell is a bit limited

This is an interesting station with a packed shop and a railway museum. Nearby there is also a model railway layout in a converted signal box - worth a visit anytime.

When you're on the main road through Kyle of Lochalsh, there's a big sign to the "railway museum", but the sign doesn't tell you where to park, so when you come by car, it's advisable to park at the large car park near the sea and walk the few minutes to the station and the museum. When you're at the... More

A small walk from Kyle's main car park, you will find this working station and a small museum of the Kyle line. Very informative how the place use to be and packed with gifts and caters for the steam train enthusiast. Set in outstanding scenery.

This is a small museum at kyle of lochalsh station run by the friends of the kyle line. It was two pounds to get in but you can get in free if you buy a souvenir map on the train, which are available when there staff travel on the train you are on. There is a small selection of railway... More

The station buildings were in need of some improvement for such a popular destination for tourists. The views to Skye and the Bridge to Skye were very good. The railway museum in the shop was looking very tired indeed and needs to be re-vitalised. The contents of the shop were very extensive and varied for all the family.

Can't say that it's particularly fancy but it's tastefully done and offers a nice selection of local crafts and a local brand of scotch whiskey that's very delicious.

The visitor centre is nice but quite small. They have some interesting train related stuff and things to buy in the shop. They also have a coffee machine in the shop. If you in the Kyle on a rainy day it is something to do.

This little museum is worth a look if you have a few minutes to spare while waiting for your train back to Inverness. It is run by volunteers so don't expect something as grand as the national railway museum. However it does contain some interesting memorabilia. The adjoining shop sells the usual array of cakes, drinks and snacks as well... More
