Brilliant display of azaleas and other plants in extensive gardens on south bank of the River Clyde.

An amazingly rich country estate garden a short drive west from Glasgow on the M8. May is probably the best time to see the magnificent display of azaleas.

This is a great place. From nature walks to picnic areas it really keeps children entranced. The highlight form me is the beautiful xmas trees for sale. You just wander among them and pick the one you want and put a tag on it with your name. There's a wee shop that sells everything you need to explore this woodland.

My husband and i really enjoyed our visit. It was a wet day but we had our waterproof jackets on! We took the yellow trail all round the woodlands. It took maybe an hour to walk. Came with friends and our children with ages ranging from 8, 9 and 10. There was a duck race on which the kids loved then we spent a few hours in the adventure playground which seemed to span quite a distance. Lots of wooden structures for the kids to climb and play on but their favourite bit was in the... More

The woodland of Finlaystone is a delight. Great old trees - including a spectactular chestnut re-rooting itself from its own drooping branches. Rich understory in many areas, younger broadleaf trees coming up to replace those which fall and die. But a great disappointment to see so much uncontrolled Rhododendron Ponticum in the place. It's a matter of some urgency to... More
