Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Every year we visit and every year since it opened we have also visited Against the Grain. The establishment is compact but we've always been accommodated without a problem. The welcome is without exception friendly and the beer advice knowledgable. Oh yes, the beer is tasty too. Also worth having a go at the sausage rolls. See you next year.

Such a friendly place with superbly kept beer. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for anyone who appreciates real ale that is kept beautifully…

Introduced to this really real ale pub. Good reception. Beer sold in 1/3 or 2/3 glasses. Alternatively “craft beer” in fridges. Superb whiskey selection. A most friendly place if a solo traveler.

Amazing service! New to the area and a place like this is so up our street. Unreal selection of beers in the fridge that you can select at your leisure and take it the bar for them to pour. So many beers I’d want to try! Many cherry and sour beers which I like. Great for weekend big nights out and just midweek drinks. Will absolutely be back soon.

This was the second visit to ATG whilst visiting Elgin on business. This really is a gem of a place, and if you are into trying different ales- this is the place for you.

Great that you can buy in 1/3 measures, meaning you can taste little bits of everything if you so wish!

The 0% range was brilliant, which was ideal for me who was pregnant and did not want to miss out. My colleague loved it too!

On both occasions, the staff have been super friendly and have made the effort to get to know you and have a chat.

If work brings me back there, I shall definitely return!

Excellent bar with a great selection of beer on draught and in the well stocked fridges. A gem of a place to spend an afternoon/evening/weekend.

Discovered this lovely place after googling pubs and bars in Elgin. It's a must for any fan of beer and a good drink - non of your cheap mass produced ale here I'm pleased to say! Several beers on tap including a great brew from Orkney's Swannay Brewery - plus numerous cans and bottles in the cabinets lining the bar room. Add to this a nice welcome from the guy in charge and it ticked every box going for me. I travelled a few hundred miles to visit Elgin and this bar was a big highlight for me.
