Nick and Neil were extremely responsive throughout the booking process and made all elements of the book easy and nothing was too much hassle. We had requirements around our ages (being just shy of the 30 year old limit) which were sorted professionally and quickly.

The pick up location is a 25/30ish minute walk from Elgin station(they can meet you I believe), with a premier inn nearby(reasonable cost) being a 7 min walk in the morning before pick up.

Upon pick up, there was a short process to do the admin of contracts and payment but this was very speedy, helped by the video induction sent in advance by email which answered many of the questions and helped us feel comfortable with the car upon pick up.

The car itself was well maintained and very clean, with adequate storage for two small/medium duffel bags behind the seats as well as the various roof elements for storage overnight or protection from showers.

We took the car over to Tomintoul for coffee then over to Aviemore, Dalwhinnie then finally over to Mallaig for our overnight stop. Next day we hopped on the ferry to Skye and toured around to Carbost and Portree before back via Kyle of Lochalsh and Achnasheen, totalling 418 miles in 2 days, spending abit over the 240 mile limit, but well worth it!! Expect comments wherever you go- people love these cars, petrol heads and not- you’ll always get smiles.

The cars themselves are very fun, the revvy nature of cars and the grip just equals superb driving entertainment, combined with some of the best driving roads the UK and Europe (possibly the world!) has to offer, is a winning formula. They really can hold speed through the corners and comfort was much better than expected, suspension took all the varying surfaces without rattling the fillings!

We were met promptly at the train station on drop off at a time that suited us which saved us having to walk back from the location in the industrial estate, a welcome result.

All in all a great hire and fantastic experience, will be back to drive a few more roads soon!

Just returned from our annual holiday in Scotland and wanted to thank Nick & Neil for a fantastic day out in one of the Caterham 7's. Myself and son Oliver had never taken a car like this out on the open road before, we have both done driving experiences on airfields before but this is a totally different experience and lots more fun. The cars are sporty and lots of fun to drive but actually very easy to handle, nice to actually feel the road and drive the car without all the electronics we are pampered with these days!
We went south from Elgin into the Cairngorms on the A941 and picked up the snow roads stopping at Lecht Ski centre cafe for lunch, if you are hiring for just one day this is a much better option than heading west. Highland Caterham Hire have a wonderful product and the guys are passionate about what they do, very happy to recommend to anybody making the trip to Scotland. We will be back in 2022 to do it all again... can't wait. Nick & Oliver.

Driving a ‘7’ around the NC500 was a truly wonderful experience. It is the perfect car for the roads and it makes the experience. We spent 5 days and nearly 800 miles in the Caterham and it was wonderful. One thing that was surprising was how comfortable the car is even after a long enjoyable day (or five). Nick and Neil were so relaxed and informative throughout the whole process of booking, collecting and returning - which makes a huge difference. The use of an induction video due to COVID works so well. You can watch it a couple of times before you pick up the car and it all feels familiar. If you like driving, stunning scenery and warm hospitality then hiring a Caterham from Nick and Neil is the best way to go. We will be doing it again.

Terrific experience – these little cars are the perfect way to discover the Highlands, the hebrid islands and the very north. But Let say, that there are these cars and in backstage, you have Boyd who is instrumental in preparation, advices, ..
At first, our idea was to travel beginning of August from France with our classic cars but it was a long journey from there and was about to cost a lot in transfers (ferries) and extra costs before to be really in Scotland. We discovered Boyd’s Caterhams and we got in touch together to discuss a 12 days roadbook with 2 caterhams in the highlands. I don't remember how much email & calls we had together but I know that rapidly everything was set – hotel, roadbook, point of interests, avoiding the “overtourismed” areas and with the small roads we were expecting.
Everything was great, Cars, roads, people we met, and even the weather was great (only 1 day ½ of rain overall on lewis & Harris and on the 2nd part of the tour) and as with our MGs, these cars are the perfect tool to meet other people.
So, once again, Thanks Boyd, and we hope to find the time to come back again to discover more.

Have always loved these cars bit had never driven one but thankfully Highland Caterham Hire make that part very easy, even in these restricted times.

Great communication leading up to the day and informative video, turn up on the day, minimal paper work completed, final couple of pointers and you're soon on the road.

Car is well turned out and drives very well.

As for the drive itself, it was great fun, it's the perfect car to explore the fantastic roads in the area and take in the views, even if it isn't your dream car; running with the roof off totally emerses you in the countryside with the exhaust note of the car adding the soundtrack.

Being Scotland, the sun isn't always guaranteed, but it's simply not needed, this car makes any day a great day to drive.

The Caterham Experience is highly recommend!

I booked at short notice, but Nick and Neil were very helpful and made sure I got the car that I wanted (the yellow one!). Neil was very welcoming and gave me a great overview of the car before setting off.

I've driven lots of fast cars, but I didn't quite appreciate how different the Caterham experience would be - with a tiny steering wheel, non-servo assisted brake, low down and open to the elements... it's a unique and rewarding experience.

When you park up, the car also generates lots of interest and some excited children that want photos!

I did around 200 miles in the day, there's so many great roads to explore across Moray, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands. Can't wait to do it again some day!

Be Jim Clark for the day and drive around in an open wheeled car inspired by the Lotus 7. It is the perfect balance of British sports car heritage with a modern build and reliability.

The experience is unlike any other. The Caterham's are well taken care of and in good order. Fired up easily, shift smoothly and have incredible feel in the pedals and steering. The team (Nick) provided a 1 day route that was perfect for our limited time in Scotland. It avoided highways and spent much of the day on narrow B roads driving through mountain towns. They were easy to communicate with and very flexible with pickup/drop off times. We drove for approximately 4.5-5 hours (plus stops for pictures and food) and covered 180miles. It was over the allotted 120 miles and we spent the 65p/mile after that and it was well worth it. Coincidentally that is also about one tank of gas. We left on full and returned just a smidge above the E in the reserve area before topping it off for return.

I cannot think of a single compliant or item to improve on. The team provided a introduction video, and also spent time going over the car at pick up. There was also plenty of parking to leave any car you arrive in.

Perfect place with near perfect location. Caterhams and roads in north of Scotland, specially some mountain twisties are just marriage made in heaven. You have included 120 miles per day, any extra miles cost 0.65GBP per mile, but it is worth every penny. Sheer experience of driving extremely light roadster with no driver aids whatsover on one of the best roads to drive is really something that is hard to describe how memorable it was. You have raw sound, close to none insulation and low seating position, but you're still quite comfy inside. Everything inside is for purpose to save weight, but you have extremely good working heater in case of colder weather. It can fit larger people as well.
Cannot recommend it enough, but with caution, as it is what it is - rear wheel drive roadster with limited slip differential that weights third of most cars on streets.

I'm a big fan of driving to the Scottish highlands to get away from work and soak in the breathtaking views, but I normally go in my own car. Having suggested a Highlands roadtrip to 5 of my mates, I knew we had to do it in something more exciting and these cars certainly didn't disappoint!

On arrival, seeing all three cars out front ready for us made a great alternative for caffeine. That's when the reality kicks in that you're about to go on an epic highland adventure in these things. After a few bits of paperwork, Nick and Neil gave us a quick walkthrough of the cars, and we were on our way in no time at all.

We booked the cars for two days, so we decided to head towards Fort William on the first day, visiting the Glenfinnan Viaduct (aka the Harry Potter bridge), as well as Glen Etive (James Bond Skyfall). The second day, we took a more scenic and quieter route through the Cairngorms, which turned out to be one of the best driving roads I had been on in the UK.

It was an incredible experience, so thank you!
