- Katie PUnited Kingdom278 contributionsA beautiful viewShort walk on tarmac to the viewing area. Suitable for wheelchair users. Only a 10 minute drive from our stay in Tummel Valley holiday park. Parking charges applied during opening hours but cafe/visitors centre not open at present. Beautiful at sunset.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 October 2023

Unfortunately, the visitor centre is closed, so we didn't spend very long here. The road up to it is steep and windy.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 April 2024

As others have said, the road up to it is quite long and winding but take it easy and you’ll be fine. Unfortunately the visitor centre and cafe were closed and it isn’t clear whether you still have to pay for parking while the facilities are closed.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 27 May 2024

I’d say this place lands somewhere between the ‘average’ and ‘very good rating.’ The walk from the car park to the viewpoint literally takes 5 mins so there isn’t very much to it, however the view once you’re up there is lovely. The cafe was really good-lovely baked potatoes and friendly staff who made us feel very comfortable with their social distancing and hygiene measures. There is also a nice little gift shop. However, I believe there is usually a parking charge (temporarily suspended due to Covid,) and I do feel it’s a bit cheeky to charge for parking when you could spend less than 15 minutes there if you don’t visit the cafe. It’s also in the middle of nowhere so perhaps take this into account before you make the trip. If you’re in the area then I’d definitely recommend a trip while the parking is free, but don’t think I’d bother once the charges are back in place.

The Queen's View has been a family favourite of ours for decades, across four generations. So for me to leave a negative review, is a big deal. Yesterday's visit however regrettably merits it.
We arrived, paid the £2 car parking charge, and walked over to the visitor centre so that two of our party - one elderly - could use the loos, and we could all have a coffee after a long car journey and before going up to take in the view.
The visitor centre and restaurant were CLOSED. No advance warning on the website, no notices on the doors explaining why, nothing. Worst of all, no toilets which is no joke considering the centre's location i.e. miles from any alternative. Whilst deciding what to do (we left and drove to Pitlochry to try & find toilets there), I saw a few people relieving themselves as discreetly as possible in the trees (so not invisible). Just terrible!!
So we pay the £2 parking fee, then discover there are no facilities of any sort, then are dismayed to see others (adults and children) relieving themselves, then are forced to drive several miles to the nearest town to find toilets and food/drink facilities. I await with interest whether the responsible authority bothers to read and respond to this. They should.

This is a nice place to stop if you are in the area, but it doesn't compare with some of the views you'll see further North and West in Scotland. As others have said, there's a decent-sized pay and display car park, and the viewing point is a short walk away. My trip disappointed a little, and that's because I got stuck behind a coach trip through the narrow lanes on the way there - that same coach trip stopped at Queen's View, so the viewing point itself ended up quite busy. Additionally, the toilets and cafe were closed that day due to staffing issues, so probably not worth the car park fee. Still nice to see if you are in the area though.

A relatively easy short walk up the hill from the car park to the viewpoint, which even in the pouring rain was worth it. The view from the top is incredible and lovely to see whilst driving around the Pitlochry area. There is a gift shop, toilets and a cafe which was perfect for a cup of tea and a slice of Victoria sponge to dry off indoors. The place dealt really well with the covid restrictions and I was impressed by the service provided, this was one of the first places I felt was adapting really well and keeping staff and visitors safe in a comfortable manner. The tables were kept clean and separated with hand gel available on each table and table service from the two genetlemen who were running the place so smoothly.

Forestry Scotland should be ashamed of charging visitors £2 a pop for car parking here. Even £1 would more than recompense them for the little effort they are putting into running the site. No doubt they also profit from renting out the Cafe and Shop. Considering that this might be the first stop for many first time visitors to the sights of Perthshire, I find it truly embarrassing that a Scottish Government body should look to rip people off.
For a view just as good park up at Allean Forest for free. It is only a few hundred yards along the road.

This view just makes your heart sing and is not to be missed only six miles from Pitlochry. Utterly spectacular views - good for the soul. Superb cafe / restaurant at Visitor Centre and Covid precautions there were really impressive!

A nice little stop-off - we visited on our way from Edinburgh to Inverness.
Nice, easy, short walk (2-3 minutes) from the carpark to the viewing area. A longer walk through the forest also there but we didn't do this one.
Check website if you plan to use the Visitors' Centre, toilets or cafe whilst here as it is closed on certain days. We visited on one of the days the visitor centre was closed but there were still a few cars and coaches in the carpark.
If in need of the toilet and closed here, head left out of the carpark towards Allean Forest where you will find some very basic but exceptionally clean toilet facilities.

This is a lovely view point few minutes drive out of town.it has an on site cafe/ toilets. The car park is £2 of free for blue badge holders. There are a couple of picnic tables next to car park. The actual view point is up a short path to the right side of the cafe ( many people seem to drive into car park and exit thinking the view is what you can see from the car park , namely mountains .The view was once visited by Queen Victoria but was believed to be given to Isabella , Queen of robert the Bruce …there is a small gift shop and Queen Victoria seat.Nice views of Loch tunnel and culin mountains

We wanted to see the much publicised ‘Queen’s View’. What they don’t tell you, until you’ve driven several miles, is that there’s a standard flat fee of £2 to park your car which is outrageous considering the walk is 150-200 yards, you look at the view and then return to your car.
I guess some people may go for a hike…I’m not sure, but for many it’s a quick stop but still £2.

Hi, there is a bus service from Pitlochry which takes 15/20 minutes. You’ll get the detailed times on Traveline Scotland. There’s no charge to view as you won’t have to pay for parking! Have fun.

Is there a Cafe open in January near the Queens View
Written 22 December 2017
Hi, I checked a website, opening hours in 2017 says that the cafe was open during the whole year. Most probably is should be the same in 2018.

did u start ur trip from edinburgh?. was it a one day tour?. which company or tour guide did you contact?.
Written 19 November 2015
is a one day tour from edinburgh to loch tummel possible to see a lot?. or will it be very tiring going back and forth from edindburgh + hiking in a one day?. should we find a place to settle for one night near the loch better?. and if so , is there a shorter trip from london directly to somewhere near the loch instead of going to edinburgh and wasting a night there?. i only have a 2 day weekend, and want to make the most of it to make time for hiking. and if possibly i need any contacts information to get connected with a tour guide to ask him about all the details and to be able to get the best out of the tummel and glens in this area. thank you

You'd be better off avoiding Loch Tummel altogether. There are some great places around Edinburgh for hiking rather than wasting time crawling up the A9 just to get stuck behind a Lochs and Glens bus when you reach Pitlochry. The whole Pitlochry/Tummel area is a tourist rip off. I'd avoid.
