About
Blair Athol Distillery stands at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands in the picturesque town of Pitlochry, Perthshire. Set in open moorland south of the town, in the foothills of the Grampian mountains, Blair Athol’s ancient source of water – the Allt Dour – flows through the grounds from the slopes of Ben Vrackie, contributing to the whisky’s, mellow quality and smooth finish. Explore the range of tours and tastings available on our website and book your visit today. Advance booking is recommended. Please note the distillery will be closed on Mondays in June.

    Great tour...... I enjoyed it
It is a compact and high quality Distillery. In a tour you hear and see how distilling is done. The guid can tell your in a perfect (and funny) way what is goiing on on de premisses. I enjoyed the tour in Pitlochry.....

Blair Athol Distillery tour and tasting is the best, we had an amazing, relaxed, fun time and their own cask tasting!
The young man who checked us in and worked the bar was welcoming and fun to visit with, reason we returned for drinks after the tour tasting and Not so plain Jane gave us an informative and interesting tour and tastings, it was like hanging with your pal Jane at the pub! Highly recommend and we will return! Don’t forget to buy lots of Blair Athol whiskeys as you can only get them here and they are lovely!

    Whisky Galore!
We loved our tour of the distillery and the whisky tasting. Didn’t like whisky before and still not a big fan now, but it was entertaining, informative and such good fun. Chris was a great guide - we learned a lot and laughed a lot. If you’re in Pitlochry, you should definitely give it a go - just make sure nobody has to drive afterwards!

    What a tour!
Many thanks to Dave for providing an entertaining, educational and fun 2 hours on our whisky tour & tasting Saturday 1 July. The tour of the distillery set the scene for a wonderful tasting through 6 different whisky’s with Dave encouraging each to explore each whisky through their own experience of smell and taste sensations whilst providing a walk through of each whisky profile presented. A highly educational and fun time had by our group. Slàinte mhath to you Dave & Blair Athol distillery.

A great way to spend 2 hours if the weather turns "Scottish"
It was a rainy day in Pitlochry and I wanted to do something mainly inside. Having never been on a whisky distillery tour I checked out the website for the Blair Atholl (formerly Bells) distillery, but unfortunately there was no availability showing for the only day I was in town. Thinking I could at least have a look around the shop and grab a coffee, I got the rain gear on and walked the 10 minutes down the main road. When I got there, I was informed that they keep a few slots open for walk ins every day, and I was able to get on the next tour. It cost £17 and included a flight of 3 whiskies to taste (which cost £16 in the bar there), a free whisky glass engraved with Blair Atholl, 10% off in the gift shop and a great tour that lasted about an hour. We were a group of 16 from a variety of countries. Our guide, David, was very knowledgeable about the history of the distillery and the process to create whisky. We went through the different stages and it was fascinating to see the inner workings of a distillery. The tasting at the end was great - applying what we'd learnt from David into tasting some very nice (and varying) whiskies was a great end to a great tour. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Pitlochry.

    BLAIR ATHOL ALLT DOUR TOUR
What an amazing location to taste a selection of brilliant Whisky. Took the bigger tour with the selection of 6 single malts to sample after and what a brilliant experience it was. Our guide, Mark, was very knowledgeable and friendly, I face, everyone I met while on site was incredibly enthusiastic and pleasant. For someone who has enjoyed a wee dram for many years, even I learnt a thing or two.

    Good
Had a tour and tasting. The American lady told all the procedures how whiskey is made and showed us the rooms. She told everything really enthusiastic. After the tour was the tasting. I’m not a whiskey fan but it was fun to try.

    Great distillery visit
Visited on a rainy day. A friendly and informed guide (Ian) gave a clear account of the process and a warm introduction to the area. The whole place is pristine but a working location, well laid out retail area.

    An interesting tour
A very pretty place. We had a great tour, but there was that one area that just didn't smell very nice. Imagine that's what we pour down our throats! People were terrific. The distillery is in a lovely area. The tasting was interesting and we got to keep a shot glass with the distillery name on it. I loved that! The attached store was very well equipped, too. I was surprised by its size.

    Excellent!
This Tour is worth the time and money. We went on the Taster Course. Chris was funny chatty and made our tour all the more interesting. WE had a very diverse group which added to it. We sampled quite a few and I bought a few bottles. I was not a whisky drinker but having sampled I found I like the Peaty flavours best. So off to the shop I went.

Stopped off en route south from NC500 to find out more about whisky production. Very interesting and entertaining tour followed by tasting 3 samples. Options for drivers so we didn't miss out 😊

Amazing! Can’t recommend it enough. Our host was funny and provided us with such great information of the whiskey process. Loved to learn the history of it as well. The whiskey was delicious. We enjoyed our experience greatly!

Our guide, Maria, was knowledgeable throughout. She even asked us questions to get a feel for our personal tastes for alcohol and provided an extra tasting for each of us based on our own tastes - in addition to the 6 standard tastings already prepared.

We learned a lot about how to complete Scotch Whiskey Tastings and how to add water through pipettes to help personalize the taste of each whiskey to our own taste preferences.

The tastings were amazing - some very rare and expensive whiskeys were provided, in addition to their regular whiskey's. Did you know that they provide Whiskey for Johnnie Walker? We had no idea that Johnnie Walker was actually Scottish Whiskey.

Loved that they allow you to take your tastings home if you have driven, so that you can complete the tastings later, at your leisure, when you don't have to drive. My husband completed his tastings there and I boxed mine up to bring back to our hotel with us. Truly a unique opportunity that we appreciated very much.

The only drawback was that there was also a cocktail included in the tour, and it was supposed to be based on your personal taste, but they only allowed you to have their "Old Fashioned", which I did not enjoy (based on a sip of my husband's), so instead I had a ginger ale. So that was disappointing.

Overall I would recommend spending the extra money - well worth the money we paid for this unique tasting experience. The tour is limited to 6 people, and we happened to be the only ones who signed up that day, so we had our own private tour.

Also - you save either 10 or 20% off at the retail shop on site that day as well.

We visited the Blair Athol Distillery via a tour given by Jane T. It was lovely! She is the perfect guide as she taught us the complete process and some useful Scottish words ;)! The tasting proved why Blair Athol Whiskey is a must visit.
Would definitely recommend!
