If you visit Pitlochry try to walk down to the dam, then over to the theatre and back across the suspension bridge. Even in the cold and winter conditions it's a spectical to behold.

After staying at the Green Park Hotel, my wife and I walked all over Pitlochry to include a visit to this unique place. Unfortunately, we did not get to see the salmon jumping although I have heard this is something to watch.

A must see when you are in Pitlochry, the staff are friendly and very helpful. Interesting to see the fish latter and how the salmon climb it to get into the loch. A power station display shows you the lay out of all the lochs...More

Not a huge power station but very interesting and accessible. Next to it there is the fish ladder where, at the right season you can watch the salmon running upstream

Truth be told, seeing a dam wasn't one of the highlights I had planned to see on our Scotland trip. Sounds rather boring, right? But to actually see salmon trying to swim upstream, it was totally worth the trek to the salmon ladder. It was...More

Visitor centre worth a look at although the steps up a bit much for those of us not so skeich. Lovely watching the salmon making their way through the ladder as well as leaping in the river itself. Sunny day preferable

We went here in Autumn when the leaves had turned colour and the dam and local scenery was beautiful. The ladder is interesting to see, but, it might be better to go in the season when there is more activity on the ladder. The visitor...More
