Opened in the spring of this year, the new visitor centre is a must for any tourist. The building contains an exhibition explaining all facts concerning the planning, construction and benefits of the Hydro schemes - a short audio visual presentation also helps. Upstairs is a large cafe with views over the dam itself and a well stocked shop with... More

This was my first visit; i was silly expecting to see fish in the fish ladder; it wasn't the season for it ; i think. Anyway. What i like about this attraction: 1-Its free 2-Nice and quiet 3-Easy to get parked; cant remember if parking was free though. 4-Get to see the dam and fish ladder in the same area.... More

Had a nice walk from our hotel to here, helped that it was a nice day. Not a great deal there to do, some signs for information. Restaurant looked nice but didn't go in

If your visiting Pitlochry I strongly urge you to visit the dam and fish ladder. This was our fourth visit as it is special to us having got engaged here and every time the view takes our breath away. There is plenty of parking at the festival theatre at £1.60 for 2 hours. A 10 minute walk from there to... More

The Pitlochry Hydroelectric Dam is a magnificent site , the fact that you can climb to the top and walk across gives you an insight into the power of water and the vision of those engineers from the 1940/50s. Life in the Highlands was to change forever with the construction of such a public enterprise. A new visitor centre has... More

Took a group of school children to visit the new centre. Excellent hands-on activities and short film to keep them interested and occupied. We were given a room for eating packed lunches which was ideal. Would thoroughly recommend this to any child/adult who is interested in electricity and energy. Only one downside was the lack of signs from Pitlochry Centre... More
