We can promise you a warm welcome aboard the Mousa Boat on your journey to explore the enchanting island of Mousa. With its magnificent Iron Age Broch and wonderful wildlife this really is the perfect place for visitors to experience the essential nature of Shetland. We operate regular sailings and tours; a Daytime Island Trip and a Late Evening Storm Petrel Trip, or if you prefer something more leisurely we also run fascinating Short Cruises around the local waters, trips to Noss for the spectacular bird watching and Whale watching charters, Whichever sailing you choose, and many do both trips, please don’t leave it to the last day of your visit to Shetland as all sailings are weather dependent, and we know you wouldn’t want to miss the experience of visiting Mousa.

On a week’s holiday to Shetland at midsummer we took this evening boat to Mousa. Short fifteen minute boat trip then the passengers split into two groups and we walked the short distance to the stunning Broch. It was amazing to sit inside and watch...More

We took the night trip to see the Storm Petrels returning, we are not birdwatchers, but it was amazing to watch these tiny birds 'coming home'. The boat trip was fun, it had been a sunny day but the weather turned really cold with drizzly...More

There is only one complete broch in the world and it's on the bonny island of Mousa, a 15 minute sailing on The Mousa Boat, the "Solan". Have a look round the pierhead building at the artifacts, history, photographs and a boat before boarding via...More

I was one of a group of birdwatching enthusiasts who went on the 10.30 PM trip to see the Storm petrels. We were not disappointed. A remarkable experience. The family who runs these trips are very organised and good fun. Don't hesitate, just do it...More

We took a night trip to see the storm petrels returning to roost. They arrive about midnight and it is a truly magical experience to watch them flit into the iron age stone broch, which itself is an amazing thing to visit. It is so...More

We took this return boat trip twice, once in the daytime, and once at night to see the storm petrels. The skipper and his son and wife are all lovely, with a warm, gentle, understated sense of humour, and a reassuring calmness about them. They...More

What a fantastic experience the storm petrel trip is, there is something quite mystical about sailing off into the sunset which is only the beginning of this special wildlife experience. A fantastic trip run by a great family team, thank you for an unforgettable wildlife...More

We recently went on a cruise with a stop in the Shetland Islands. We opted to see history with an excursion to Mousa Island by way of the Mousa Boat. I must admit when I saw the "ferry" I was taken aback as I expected...More

I'm a massive fan of seabirds and in my view if you are similarly enthusiastic about them then a visit (or even a pilgrimage) to the island of Mousa in the Shetland Islands is simply a 'must'. Over 10,000 storm petrels breed on Mousa and...More

An enchanting and peaceful place. You get 3 hours on the island before the boat returns. Today we saw seals, skua, shags, oystercatchers amongst others. The father and son team who run the boat are very engaging and knowledgeable. Would strongly recommend taking this trip.
