Played with members two days in a row and clearly played better day 2 when you had a sense of the holes. Members or caddies can point out the target but with some of these holes being quirky (even members agree), having played it once gives you the confidence needed to hit the right shot. The home of The Open... More

I returned to Prestwick after not having played there for a while and, in a strong wind, it was a real test of golf. Definitely not for beginners, even experienced golfers can struggle here. I am sure that it's easier once you get to know the course better but it is really enjoyable to play there. We had a very... More

Thank you John S for sharing your review and great you re-visited Prestwick Golf Club. No two days are ever the same on our links course. Our Pro's tips for neutralizing windy conditions are more club and same swing speed! More

Was fortunate enough to visit the "home of the Open" with my father and good friend from Capilano this Sept. Any true aficionado of golf will be captivated by the history and tradition of Prestwick. From the grand table lunch to the logs and memorabilia in the 'smoking room' Prestwick oozes with the spirit of golf. The course itself is... More

Having just sampled the "Prestwick Experience" it really was one of the most enjoyable days I have spent at a golf club. The course was in fantastic condition, though to get full enjoyment I would recommend a caddie to spot the wayward balls and point you in the right direction. Should your ball follow the suggested trajectory, you could be... More

Thank you for your kind words. We are delighted you enjoyed your day at Prestwick and agree with your sentiment that you should take a caddie - particularly if you have never played the course before. We hope you get that chance to visit us again. More

Prestwick hosted the first Open Championship (which they are very quick to point out). It was a fun course to lay, especially given the history. I recommend a caddie as there are a number of blind shots and inside knowledge is invaluable. He also pointed out the one hole that has not at all been changed since the first Open.... More

Played Prestwick old as the second course on our Open rota challenge. Setup from the clubhouse to the course excellent, course in great condition with some 'quirky' holes and some real challenges! Hold your nerve on the 1st, 3rd is a cracking hole! 10th grip it and rip it and 17 is fantastic (enjoy the surprise). Would definitely play again... More

Thank you Andy C for your review! There are indeed many challenges at Prestwick Golf Club but equally so you can reap the rewards for accurate play and our 18th offers the opportunity to finish with a birdie. We were met by a very friendly starter who had our group name down before we even shook hands. Very friendly and accommodating staff who acted as if you were truly welcome. Golf memorabilia and history throughout the clubhouse with much accessible for visitors. We opted to not have the formal lunch, but would like to try that next time.... More

A friend and I played here in early August, site of the very first Open. Club oozes of history. The golf course has some quirky holes with blind shots and is a ton of fun to play. Having a caddie was definitely a big help if you haven't played before. Many great holes that make you think strategy. No immediate... More

This course is full of character ...interesting holes ...you will need a caddie/tour guide ...otherwise you'll be playing to the wrong green several times ..loads of fun and a friendly staff ... oh yeah it just happens to be the first site of Open Championship ... book it on your next Scottish gold trip.

A very historic course with some really unique holes: The Alps & the Himalayas require blind shots over massive dunes. Very interesting holes on the rest of the course.
