This is worth the one-hour round trip from the car park. The views are spectacular and the monument is worth a look too.

Visited here the week after the 100th anniversary. Very moving monument and location. Only a short walk from the car park. As usual, best to visit early or later in the day when there'll be less people.

...to a very sad and reflective monument with amazing views and craggy outcrops. Two ships went down in 1918, the latter only a month before the end of the war with all souls lost. A poignant memorial to lives lost too soon, well worth the...More

I wish this had been a bright and sunny day, but the light mist felt good on the hike and added to the somber mood of the place. I won't go in to details of the events themselves, but I highly recommend a google of...More

Decided to do the short 1 hour walk around the OA on Islay to see the American Monument. The walk was a most pleasant experience on a sunny day and the monument stands high up on the cliffs and is easily visible as you approach...More

The roads down get worse as you get closer before becoming a car killer just before the car park. Get on to the council to sort this out because it is simply not acceptable. Once you are out the car though the walk is nice...More

Been here before, have always walked the longer route passed the farm and round the cliffs to the monument. Was dragged up here this time by a mad pulling collie dog, nice walk for a dog local cattle not interested in him at all. Shorter...More

It is a lovely and fairly easy walk from the car park to the monument if you stay on the regular path. But there is also a " circular route" where you walk to the monument in a big circle rather than there and back...More

A beautiful view from a sombre monument. Very windy with a storm shower at the top but worth the effort. Amazing looking cattle sharing the walk with us. Paths pretty good with only a few boggy patches.
