Lovely boat. Amazing tackle. We caught so much fish. Mackerel, pollack and crab. The fish itself would have cost the same price in a supermarket as the cost of the trip. Such good value for money. The trip to the fishing site was awsome and beautiful. Our host was knowledgeable and absolutely charming. We really enjoyed his company and he made us feel so special. My daughter Oona and I agree this is the best highlight of any holiday we’ve had.
I couldn’t recommend this boat trip more.

Our excursion with Lewis was the highlight of our trip to the Outer Hebrides. We would highly recommend and plan to go on another day trip with him the next time we're back in the area. His trip was fully customizable to our preferences. We were interested in a mix of fishing and sight-seeing, and he balanced both perfectly. He took us to spots where he knew from experience that we might have good luck catching a variety of fish, seeing seals, and seeing a rare white-tailed eagle. Lewis was also incredibly knowledgeable about the area, the wildlife, and the ecosystems. He was able to answer all of our questions, and even gave us great recommendations for things to do during the rest of our trip. 10/10!

Unfortunately we couldn't get a trip booked as the boat was on a commercial charter however Lewis was able to recommend another operator so we didn't miss out. He also took the time to share his knowledge and experience of shore and fly fishing to enhance our stay in the local area. A true gent, I really appreciate the information and hopefully can get on one of his trips in the future.

We had a trip with Lewis on our recent trip to Eagle Bay Cottages - check them out too, as absolutely fab!! This boat trip was the best way to see the wildlife around the bay and to try our hand at a bit of fishing. We dined on crab that evening which was just scrumptious and we also found in Lewis' creels an octopus, spider crab, starfish and burtterfish. But we let them all survive for another day!! Lewis is a very knowledgeable skipper and made sure we made the most of our time out on the boat. We particularly enjoyed the harbour seals and the many sea birds, so lots of good photo opportunities. The boat is very new and well equipped. So, with the excellent skipper it felt very safe. Providing us with waterproofs and life jackets was also very convenient. No need for any of our own specialist kit.

Just to let everybody know that the reviews do not do justice to the whole experience provided by Lewis , with his knowledge, enthusiasm, love of his work and pride in his heritage and work. Incredible to see the sights and animals and fish even on a relatively grey day in August. Just topped off our week at Keose , even if it was at the start of the week. Thanks again Lewis

My girlfriend and I booked a private charter with Lewis who took us out for an awesome morning on the water. He shared his expert local knowledge about the local wildlife and helped us catch a few fish. Despite being absolute beginners, we caught mackerel, pollock, cod and coalfish! Lewis was highly communicative when organising the trip and helpfully guided us to a day when the water was calm and weather good. It was the best thing we did on our holiday and we'd absolutely do it again!

Spent a fantastic few hours with Lewis, who is a friendly and very knowledgeable guy - knew exactly where the seals would be and where to find a rare eagle and her chick! Lewis had all the kit we needed, was organised, reliable, always responded quickly to any questions, a really first class setup. One of my son's discovered he had a hidden talent for fishing, catching endless mackrell which Lewis gutted for us. Caught plenty for a hearty dinner and saw some amazing sights, thank you for some wonderful memories. A must do trip if you are up this way!

my dad and I had an amazing fishing trip and memorable experience with Lewis. we went home with 4 whopping pollock a tonne of mackerel and some delicious crab. Lewis' knowledge of the environment, nature and of course the fish is amazing and well appreciated by us. we felt at home the whole time, (even as novice fishermen-and woman). i couldn't recommend this trip highly enough and it really was the highlight of our holiday in lewis and harris. Thank you Lewis we will definitely be back next year, or on our return to the islands!

This trip exceeded our expectations in every way. Lewis only offers the boat as a private charter, and will tailor your experience to whatever you want to do. He ia an excellent host, with an amazing wealth of knowledge about the sea, the wildlife, local history and even photography - all of which he is very happy to share.
We caught pollock, mackerel, codling and coley, all of which Lewis gutted too. The mackerel in particular tasted unbelievable that night. He also offered us crab too, but we wouldn't have had a chance to eat it.
The look on the children's (3 of them between 11 and 17) faces when they caught their fish was priceless, and Lewis was excellent with them all.
On top of this we saw seals and all sorts of seabirds, and had a wonderful sunny afternoon out on the sea and the loch with Lewis providing excellent company.
Don't leave the island without going out on the water with Lewis.

My next summary would be "Such an amazing day!" followed by "You've got to do this trip!"
We arrived in good time for a 10:30 start on a beautifully warm, calm and sunny day and our group of four was well up and ready for a few hours fishing out t'sea!
The day before, Lewis, our local fisherman guide, had been in touch and said that due to the hot spell of weather the algae had bloomed making fishing a bit more trying, but that didn't matter!
After a safety briefing and getting kitted up, we were already on our way out to sea. Upon departure, we were asked us if we'd just like to do fishing or fishing and a bit of wildlife spotting. That was a really nice surprise - and because we were waiting (apparently!) for the tide, we asked if we could do both.
Lewis is an amazing guide, as well as being a fisherman and commercial diver, he's also registered by the RSPB and also gathers sugar kelp for the Harris Distillery. All of this made for a really special, information packed and exciting trip.
In our two to three hours, we managed to cram so much into our trip. I still can't quite believe it. Seal spotting, eagle watching and crab-pot lifting. As Lewis put it, we even managed to get some 'engagement' with a seabird and a white tailed eagle. We even fed them a mackerel or two!
If you do decide to go, try to take a half decent camera, you never know what you might see!
To finish things off, each of us had a pretty decent catch which were duly gutted and given to us in a cool box. All eaten that evening which was the icing on the cake.
After celebrating our engagement in Harris, the fishing trip was the second best highlight of my week spend in Harris! For me, there is no higher praise!

Hi Lewis, me and my partner are visiting for a week commencing 29th May 2021 and like the sound of your trips. We’d like to fish and see wildlife - would love to see a Merlin and Golden Eagle in particular and appreciate you can’t guarantee anything :). How much would a 3 hour trip cost please? Thanks, Nick

Wo liegt das Boot ? Kann man Lewis vor fragen, ob eine Tour möglich ist?

Hi,
As it is a private charter, yes, you can take your dog - at your own risk obviously as dog lifejackets are not supplied.

Hi,
A private charter for your group is £50 per hour. Maximum party size is 5 people. At this time of year when the weather is a bit cooler, a 2.5 hour trip is about right. Waterproofs, fishing rods, coolbox, etc all provided.
Regards
Lewis
