You can walk bare foot over the ripples of sand for such a long way. You can find ancient ivory chess pieces. You’ll see salmon in the river and crabs in the sea. You can find fresh mussels off the rocks. You can climb the rocks and explore big dunes. Shelter between the rocks. Climb between the two rivers. Judge how much of the big D you’re brave enough to walk. It’s all safe and super peaceful.

Visited on a beautiful sunny , if a bit breezy day! Found a spot out of the wind and you would have thought we had the bay to ourselves at times - stunning place to visit. Check the tide times and get there at low tide to fully appreciate the sands at their best.

This beach is absolutely massive, the white sands go on forever! Absolutely stunning. The road down is quite hard to find, we thought we had missed it as we seemed to be driving away from the coast, but eventually we found a signpost. You need to drive on a good while after the Uig Sands restaurant. The car park is a good size. We were unlucky that they day we visited the weather wasn’t great, but if it had been nice this would have been very instagram friendly!

There are many beautiful beaches on Lewis and Harris but there’s just something about this one. You could be anywhere in the world! Miles of beautiful soft golden sands, clear blue waters, gorgeous patterned rock formations and mountainous views. Just fantastic! It’s is worth noting that during our visit the caravan site and associated toilets were closed due to the pandemic, so worth checking before you go if you’re likely to require facilities. I believe the disabled toilet is available for radar key holders. Make sure you visit the replica Chessman on your way to the car park.

We visited at Low Tide and could have walked for miles and miles - just remember where you parked and went on to the beach. Gorgeous white sands with some hidden cliffs. Definitely a must visit location!
