The Loch, Palace and Church are truly excellent sights and well worth a visit. The Church itself is quite something, staffed by lovely and welcoming people happy to show all the interesting and often overlooked aspects of the church. The stained glass windows are a particular highlight, from the impressive altar windows to the lovely newer additions One thing to... More

The custodians of the Church were very friendly and knowledgeable. an old gentlemean gave us a leaflet with detailed information on it about the Church. But did not need to read it because he followed us and explained the history of the Church as we went along. How Cromwells' men took over the Church and lived there awhile. They used... More

Originally built in 1138 what you see (give or take a fire, a civil war and the reformation) was finally finished in 1540. The church is a functioning part of the community and is a complete surprise inside and out. The volunteers who look after the church are wonderful, friendly, knowledgable and proud of their church. Talking to them about... More

Absolutely stunning inside, really well looked after. The stained glass windows are a highlight, as was sitting and listening to the church organist play.

The St. Michael's parish church was once a royal cathedral and if I remember correctly was initially built in the 14th - 15th century. It is now a Church of Scotland place of worship, but is also an active tourist site with much to see both inside and around the old cemetery next door. It is quite convenient to visit... More

Re-visiting my former church in Linlithgow was so nostalgic. I attended Sunday worship on Battle of Britain day and stayed to take Communion. Made so welcome by the Rev. Stewart Gillan and all the Parishioners. Many memories of my days in the Choir and my son's baptism into the Church of Scotland at St. Michael's in 1972. Thank you to... More

Ladies inside offered us some background info that helped in our walk-about; some beautiful stained glass and also interesting history on the construction and use of the church when occupied by the military.

Visited yesterday (after visit to adjacent Linlithgow Palace) and was very surprised by how ornate this church in Scotland was - take a hand-guide to really appreciate all there is to see. The modern day tapestries help to tell the story of the area and don't miss the modern stained glass window - amazing colours ! Also, view from the... More

Regrettably, the male guide seemed too interested in a male guest to give us, two quiet scholarly women the time of day or a goodbye, but the church is lovely in its architecture and spirituality, with many beautiful features in stained glass, metals, wood, and stone.
