We set out to discover Loop Head at the suggestion of fellow travelers who had just driven it. There is a lighthouse at the end of this peninsula that can be visited and climbed for a fee. We saw lovely wildflowers and many extremely steep...More

We hired great bikes from Gary and set off on the coast road. This is a fabulous cycle and the views in my opinion challenge the Cliffs of Moher but without the crowds. We stopped at Riss bridges to wander out to Teg point and...More

Our guide book told us to take the R487 Loop Head Rd out of Kilkee and look for a turnoff to the right signposted “Scenic Loop”. Didn’t see it and ended up driving all the way to the lighthouse at the end. Fine if you...More

If you are in Co. Clare, it's worth taking a drive out along Loop Head. There is a lighthouse to visit (for a small fee) and very nice walks around the head.

Some people have written less-than-positive reviews about the lighthouse HERE. To be clear: reviews for the lighthouse can be found elsewhere on TripAdvisor…this is for reviews of Loop Head itself. We did NOT go into the lighthouse for a tour as we were there to...More

In my desire to let everyone know what a gem Loop Head is I am afraid it will become like so many other destinations in Ireland and become a tourist trap. Right now Loop Head is a hidden gem to most tourists. We drove on...More

The drive to the lighthouse is worth every mile. The car park is free, as is the area around the light house, and the views are dramatic. A huge rock column detached from the mainland is a haven for ocean birds, and the path to...More

We stayed in a beautiful AirBNB, about 300 years old but completely updated. Brennens Old Stone Cottage. There are other B&B's in the area. Wish I could be there right now!
