Castle turned educational destination

I'd read about the observatory online, but wanted to see the castle, too. I wish the tour had included more info about the history of the castle itself, or that we'd been able to see more of the castle, but it was still a very interesting tour. The observatory has a lot of cool interactive exhibits in the name of... More

The guide who takes you round is very knowledgeable with a passionate interest in astronomy. The planetarium show is included in the admission and should not be missed.

Planetarium and castle history talk by a really knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and interesting guide (the guy with the pony tail and unpronounceable Irish name - sorry!) Also a whole wealth of exhibits about the cosmos etc - my only regret was that i had to leave early for my flight back to London, could easily have spent another couple of hours... More

The observatory is set in a nice location. As for the visit itself, it's nice but only if you're in vicinity. Not worth a detour

We stopped on our way into Cork to check out the castle, we originally had no idea it was an observatory. When we came there was very little for crowds so we had a private planetarium viewing and it was awesome. The way the skyline was explained was probably meant for kids, but I even learned something! We also had... More

We came here as we saw it was a small castle so thought it was very cute. The history behind the castle is very interesting. The fact that it's been converted into an observatory makes it even better! We went to a planetarium show and straight after had a guided tour of the museum - all included in the entrance... More

A little way from the city centre but well worth it. Suitable for all ages and good interactive exhibits. Site within the castle is brilliant. Info is always current and well presented. Try not to rush through it. Enjoy (PS Great coastal walk form here. You do not need to go to restaurant. It is a bit pricey for families... More

This was a spontaneous adventure with friends on a Saturday afternoon. For 6.50 you get to learn a little about space and to climb to the top of the castle to see a beautiful view of the port and upriver to Cork city. Definitely worth a visit!
