GPO Witness History is a brand new permanent visitor attraction located in the historical and iconic GPO building on O'Connell Street, Dublin. This highly interactive and spectacular visitor attraction focuses on the 1916 rising, the aftermath of this rebellion and also how Ireland has developed since. Experience the events from an eyewitness perspective of active participants on both sides and bystanders caught in the middle. This engaging and interactive experience brings history to life though electronic touch screens, video, audio visual booths, sound and authentic artefacts - many previously unseen. Relax afterwards in the café and browse the gift shop which overlooks the courtyard. This iconic venue is also available for private functions and events.

This gives an insight into the 1921 Easter Rebellion in Dublin and was probably the best museum/experience we went to while we were in Dublin. You walk through a comprehensive exhibition of the reasons behind why it happened and the people involved and finished with a well produced and immersive cinematic presentation of the battle of Dublin. I would highly... More

This is a relatively small exhibition squeezed somewhat into the basement of the GPO but it is very well organised to show the story and timelines of the Easter 1916 Uprising in Dublin and the pivotal place of the GPO in that part of Irish history. The displays themselves vary from cases of memorabilia to mock-ups with mannequins of the... More

The post office is the older version of a post office, yet it is still open for business. The interior is interesting, and the history behind the GPO is amazing.

Hi John, Just a note to let you know how much our group from Dun Laoghaire Borough Historical Society enjoyed the GPO exhibition. The exhibition is very well put together and we had a really great guide who gave us very interesting information on all the exhibits. We thought that the personal headphones were a terrific idea as some of... More

We visited the 100 year exhibition for the 2016 uprising. Really thought provoking and you felt that the republicans would have made it if they had only communicated better. Uncomfortable but necessary reading for an English visitor. Excellent experience though - smashing building as well

We made a quick stop here prior to a walking tour and so sorry we couldn't spend more time. The museum highlights the primary aspects of Irelands fight for freedom and the Importance of the Easter Uprising which celebrated it's 100 year observance in 2016. The museum is well laid out with some interactive exhibits, memorabilia, articles and information on... More

Surprising interactive small screens giving a day by day understanding of the conflict, together with a large cinematic screen with actors portraying the individuals trapped in the GPO and subsequently executed.
