Leaving the noise of city behind, we headed to the beautiful countryside and into the mountains. Several stops along the way to see the Irish Sea and James Joyce tower (great view from the tower so make it quick and head in!), Avoca for snacks and shopping and Laragh for lunch. John was our guide and he brought humor, history, interesting facts, and more humor on this trip which made the day that much more fun. We don’t usually do tours or group activities but this was truly the best way to see the mountains, lakes and plenty of photo ops along the way. The lunch stop, Lynhams of Laragh was perfect! Ambiance of a warm cozy pub, delicious stew and super friendly service. Dress in layers, wear good walking shoes if you want to walk in the National Park area, where you can hike on a paved path to the upper lake (easy and mostly flat walk but gorgeous)

Thank you for this lovely feedback and totally agree with your recommend to “ dress in layers and wear good walking shoes” as the walk to the Upper Lake is a must !! Glad that we have converted you to “tours” and hope to see you back in Ireland again soon. Regards Denis

We were in Dublin for five days and saw many wonderful sites but wanted a day out of the city to see other parts of Ireland. This was a great way to do it. We saw the Sandy Cove beach area of Dublin Bay, the wild peat bogs where so many artifacts and people have been found, beautiful lakes, an ancient monastery site with 5th/6th century church, a nice shopping venue. Our guide, John, was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and entertaining. ( The only thing I wish he didn’t do is sing along with all of the Irish music he played on the bus while riding, haha.)

Absolutely fantastic day trip outside of Dublin...Probably one of the best day trips I’ve ever take. Scenery is breathtaking. What made it more fantastic was our guide John, whose extremely enthusiastic attitude enhanced the experience. If you go to Dublin, this is a must.

Me and my class had so much fun and I learned a lot about Ireland! The spots he brought us to were breathtaking, I couldn’t stop taking pictures. It was an amazing experience I’ll never forget. I am thanking the guide for doing such a good job, keep going! I hope more people can experience that tour. You’re the best!

Upon our arrival in Dublin, we booked several tours with different tour companies. Now we appreciate the difference in quality, and wish we could have a "re-do."

When we took a tour a few days ago, we didn't understand the high quality we received, until compared with today's disaster provided by Wild Wicklow Tours.

First, our driver was late. 25 minutes late, during which time we stood out in the cold. His excuse was that it was "foggy," resulting in heavy traffic. I'm sure this NEVER occurs in Dublin [ha!], so one would never think, upon looking outside & seeing fog, to get an earlier start.

We thought we were lucky being the first folks to board the bus. WRONG!!! We got to spend the next TWO HOURS driving around Dublin, to hotel after hotel, to pick up various other passengers [All this in heavy traffic.] One, two or three passengers at EACH stop = two hours of this mess. Why Wild Wicklow couldn't require customers to gather at one or two central "stops" so we didn't have to endure this ridiculousness [as our previous day's tour had done] is beyond me.

I won't bore you with details of this very ordinary tour, except to say that we spent another hour dropping off passengers [again, one or two at a time] at various hotels at the end of the trip. I calculated that we spent from quarter past 9 am to 7:15 pm on this "tour," 3 hours of which was devoted to picking up or dropping off passengers in heavy teraffic. In other words, 30% of our "trip."

So, if this is how you'd like to allot your precious vacation time, be my guest and book with Wild Wicklow. I'm telling friends to look for another provider [there are several].

I'd also like to suggest that folks utili\e the REAL "Irish Tourist Office, which is next to the church and Molly Malone statue. Do NOT use the misleadingly labeled "Tourist Offices" which are right across from Trinity University. These are fake commercial offices, clearly paid to promote various operators. The "real" tourist office will give a more honest recommendation.

have never been on a tour where the bus driver tells you where to sit. The 25 or so rude and disrespecful students filled in the back of the bus and then we were next, along with about 10 other passengers. Then the driver(Seamus) put the teachers up front behind him. Why the teachers were not with the students didn't make any sence. At the first stop, Seamus ask us how everything was going. We told him about the disruptive students and he said he was sorry, but never took action then or ever. Seamus was seemingly more interested in the teachers and the young female students than anyone else on the bus. Seamus swearing over his intercome system was very inappropreate and unprfesional.(words like Jesus Christ) There were so many stops for the studens on the way back to Dublin we were over an hour late getting back. The landscape of Ireland was beautiful but you had to deal with students throwing rocks and sticks at the locations where we stopped. Had I had known about the students, before booking this trip I would have booked it for another day or another company. But if it would of been another day that would of not changed the drivers unprofesional abuilty to drive or look out for the passengers concerns on his bus. Oh , and he also was heard telling the young female students they could sit on his lap WOW! Sad that he didn't put the passengers up front and the teachers back with the studens. Seamus always sounded like he was eatting his mic(very garbled, hard to understand) I paid alot for this vacation and the worst part of the trip was this tour. If you choose this tour make sure Seamus is not your driver and there are no students on board.

First some good words: It really brings you to the sweet spots of Wicklow. But that's it.

Now to the critical stuff, where shall I start? You may even like it if you are looking for a uncivilized drinking tour with yelling people and a driver further animating people to sing in a headache-causing way over the coach microphone.
But if you are looking for a tour to enjoy nature, discover our beautiful planet Earth without being forced to take selfies every other minute or do jump-photographies every time the bus stops, you better have a good look at alternatives, cause you won't be happy here. At the beginning, our driver John even tried to teach us something about the irish culture and the rich history of the land, but as soon as people started yelling and screaming during his talks, he stopped his storytelling and instead motivated them to further scream in a never before at a tour seen, childish manner.
This was, by far the most annoying and frustrating 'guided' tour we have ever been on, and at one point, it made my girlfriend even cry, as it was meant to be a nice end of our trip through Ireland, but it turned out to be our worst nightmare and ruined our entire day.

In July 2012, I booked this tour for my family by phone and a day later I phoned to confirm it and was told all was fine - see you on Sunday!

Sunday morning, we turn up only to be told "Sorry you are not on the list" - the drivers response to us: "Have a nice day" and drove off... not even an apology of any kind!

Bottom line, it does not matter how nice the tour might have been, if you can't depend on the booking and make plans, it is not much good.

One of the most fascinating, informative, funny, and well organized tour I have ever taken after years of traveling. Our guide and driver, Niles, was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! Very funny guy and such a great storyteller. He gave us a really good history lesson and showed us the best of beautiful Ireland.

We were promptly picked up at our hotel (The Gresham), and continued to several other pickup stops. It was a good chance for us to see very upscale North Dublin which we have not visited yet. Niles also mentioned many very interesting places of interest to us that are completely free and well worth visiting.

Our first stop was at lovely Avoca craft and food shop and cafe. Fantastic place to buy woolen sweaters and scarves as well as great local food.
Then we continued to Powerscourt, which we did not have a chance to visit, but Niles told us that it is an easy day trip from Dublin to Enniskerry.
Our next stop was at picteresque Loch Bray lake, Glencree valley and at Sally Gap - no words to describe the beauty of the green mountains, pastures and waterfalls... We stopped for delicious lunch at Lynhams of Larham (separate review), had time to buy crafts and continued to Glendalough Lakes and the St.Kevin's hermitage site. Niles told us many fascinating legends and historical facts about this sacred spiritual place, so peaceful and serene...

On the way back to Dublin we enjoyed the views of the emerald mountains in bright sunshine - I have never seen so many shades of green... What a beauty!

Thank you for such a wonderful tour, Niles! Wild Wicklow Tours are the best!

I have traveled a lot and this is the first time I have ever written a bad review but they deserve it. This was the worst bus tour ever. Instead of 3 or 4 pickups from hotels, there were 7 or 8 (both ways which meant we got back late as well) Our last pickup was at 12 after being picked up from the hotel at 9 with a stop at the Avoca tourist shop. Lunch ate up 2 more hours so our full day tour was really less than a half day after spending all that time picking up passengers so bus would be totally full. Plus the air conditioning would not work on the bus and the windows did not open. Things happen so I understand about the air conditioning. However there is no explanation for forcing your customers to ride all over the place just so you can pick up more fares instead of starting the tour. Had I time I would have demanded a refund instead I'll just demand an apology.
