There are many pubs in Dublin which their regulars will claim serves the best pint of Guinness in the city. In the Royal Oak's case, they may be right. Close to Kilmainham Gaol, it's a great little boozer which is well worth a visit

Others have called this "a country pub in the city" and I understand why. It appears to be old, a bit shabby (but not dirty), and quite small -- two rooms, neither large. A fairly quiet group, a number of obvious regulars --always a good...More

Fantastic pint of Guinness with warm, friendly and genuine staff and a fun landlady who welcomed us too. A hidden gem.

You're not going to get much better for an authentic Irish pub in the city. Feels like you're in an old country pub in the middle of nowhere, really nice cosy vibe to the place, good staff and nice locals. The Guinness is fantastic too....More

I live locally and have been at the old royal oak many times. It's a vibrant, small, authentic pub. Nice and friendly people and excellent pints. I highly recommend a visit to experience the Irish atmosphere that warm your senses.

A proper pub, across from the Garda station so undesirable characters are not attracted. A mixture of good locals and a passing tourist trade. You will get a fantastic pint of Guinness, note it doesn't open during the day. Opens after 5pm

A small pub with a friendly crowd that gives you feel that you have the hustle & bustle of city life. Get in early with friends & take over the snug in the back.

Great little local bar a little off the beaten track but neat KIlmainham. Nice pint and a great atmosphere. Most of the clientele appeared to be locals. Great to stop in for a few drinks of anight.
