Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After exiting the airport, we took a cab to Heuston Train Station arriving about 1420. We had purchased a “flex ticket” in advance. Originally intended to take 1300 train to Killarney, but now had to take 1500 train, which was not a problem. We originally had assigned seats on the 1300 train, now we had open tickets and to find seats that were not pre-assigned. Overall a very pleasant experience.

As the booking hall and restaurant, this block formed the main public component of Heuston Station and was placed at the centre of a long range of offices to the south of the train shed. The well-executed portico to the front is a typical example of a classical element employed in railway architecture, and as well as serving a practical function in providing shelter and clearly denoting the entrance, it lends gravitas to the façade. The elegant plaster detailing to the tall interior room adds artistic interest, creating an aesthetically-pleasing space, with design elements of the train shed, including round-headed arcades, repeated internally. The fabric of the building is repeated in the main façade to the east, providing a strong sense of continuity across the building. As the terminus of the GS&WR, Heuston is one of the most important railway buildings in the country. The original plan left this booking hall and other passenger facilities unconnected to the public front of the building, which was typical of Victorian railway architecture. This range, including the booking hall, dominates the streetscape at the end of Saint John’s Road West, making a strong classical contribution to the area.

This is a nice well laid out station. Trains to the Weser, southwest & south depart from here. There is a large screen displaying departure times and stations served along the train journey to its destination.
There are plenty of coffee shops there and a well stocked newsagents ( Easons ). Something I enjoy here is the ‘free to use’ piano. There really is some wonderful artists in Ireland as it’s relaxing to just listen to some of the pianists doing their ‘thing’ to pass the time.
The staff in general are very helpful. Some of the platforms can be a long walk from the concourse, but I put that down to the stations popularity. One added bonus is the Luas which is almost directly opposite the main entrance, and has a very good service to central Dublin. The busses also are just outside the main entrance. There is also a well frequented taxi rank.
Overall a very pleasant experience.

Very nice station and easy to use. You can book your train tickets 90 days in advance with Irish Rail. They email you a conformation number which you enter into an automated machine at the station and it prints your tickets. There is also an information booth at the station. When you get reserved tickets, your name will be digitally displayed above your seat. The station has a nice bar, several places to eat and a convenience store. Very pleasant way to travel around Ireland. Tickets are inexpensive and the trains are comfortable and clean.

If I’m going to Galway, Cork. I’ll go by train. It’s a lovely station with coffee shops and places to eat. They have a board which all the departures to each destination and what platform number to go to. It’s very easy to get to only a few mins on the Luas or bus from the city centre.

Train entered station platform and stopped behind another train . We were the best part of half a mile from the entrance to the station. We followed the taxi signs which directed us straight forward to the front exit of the station. On the way we noticed right turns to the smoking area outside the station. When we exited the front of the station there were no cabs. We asked around and was directed around the corner past the smoking area to the taxis . A good ten minute walk from where we alighted the train with heavy bags. The station was not clean, the open plan was against the covid distancing regulations, and the signage was very poor and misleading.

I am a bus driver and I was finished at Heuston this evening. I had a call of nature. So I decided to use the facility's. To say I was shocked 😲 at the men's Toilets in the station. There was tissues well at least I hoped they were left on the floor by the uranls. The smell was horrible 😫 I almost got sick. The last time I smelt something as bad as what was in the Toilets was when I was on a farm. How often do the toilets get cleaned because the staff aren't doing a good job at all. I'd rather piss in a bottle then use the toilets in that station.

For trains to Galway and other stations in the west and south of Ireland.
Known locally as Dublin Heuston and originally called Kingsbridge Station it’s now called Heuston station after Seán Heuston who had worked there and was executed for being a leader of our 1916 Easter Rising. It’s a lovely small easy to navigate station. Ticket collect machines are very easy to use and no queues when we were there. Lovely coffee shop with friendly helpful staff. A very nice train station indeed.

We lost a phone on the way home from Dublin to Galway in the station. Special mention to Tony in the information office who did everything he could to get us the phone back. We got to the station way sooner than we thought. Tried to buy new tickets on line but had web site problems. Spoke with Derek Fagan and in an instant he sorted everything out in seconds. What an ambassador for the company and the country. Pure gentleman and the focus on helping the Customer. Our thanks Derek.

Are there Heuston Station lockers in which we can store our luggage while we explore Dublin for a few hours before returning to the station to catch our train to Killarney?
