Great Dublin Pub where they run Irish Folk sessions in the 'snug'. You can settle down and listen to some traditional music while sipping a pint of Guinness. Wonderful atmosphere, very informal.

Best pub in Dublin for a good session. They have music in the snug and sometimes, in the main area. They are never really full so it means you can enjoy it. Good pint as well.

First day in Dublin and feeling the effects of a long trip to get there, we stopped in M. Hughes pub for a rest and lunch. Glad we did. We found the staff to be very friendly and enjoyed our sandwiches and drinks. It was...More

This is one of the few quiet places you can go in Dublin and get a proper session. Sometimes it is in the snug and sometimes it is in the main open area. This pub opens quite late.

We visited M. Hughes while on a Beer/Whiskey tour. It is off the beaten tourist path which is awesome. The best part was the pickup gig of traditional Irish music. This place is worth the visit for an evening or more!

We found Hughes because one of the musicians leaving Cobblestone said he was going to play down there. He told us it was not as well-known so not as crowded. The pub is only a 10-15 walk from Cobblestone, about fifty feet from the Four...More

We stumbled upon this bar the night after Saint Patrick's Day, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The bartender was friendly and conversational, and the Guinness pints were the cheapest we found in Dublin. There was a side room where local people brought their...More

It's not on the tourist path but it's worth looking for. Not a Superpub by any measure, but more of what I believe is what a local pub should be. You can get a good pint there and trad music too.

Martin is witty and charming. His Da is refined and lovely. My mom and sister and I loved the pub. Great snog? Spelling. Ask for a toastie.

I didn't have food when we were there, but I checked around the Internet and they do seem to have pub food.
