We were very excited about seeing the Book of Kells for its historical and religious significance. The exhibit was informative and the actual manuscripts we were able to view were spectacular. The Old library is like something out of a Harry Potter movie and we were all blown away with its beauty.

Visited this place last August and returned in May 2017. We booked tickets on the internet for 9.30am. Early start but well worth it. No queue if you pre-purchase the tickets. Tickets include 2-for-1 drinks at the Arts building or the Buttery restaurant at the university. However, these are closed on the weekend so we could not make use of... More

yes there were lines, but were not unreasonable. Seeing the great hall/Old Library was an amazing site to see. The proclamation in the begging of the great hall was moving.

Timed arrival just right (put luck) for a student guided tour. Guide was absolutely brilliant, knew his stuff AND was engaging and interesting. Have to admit we like libraries, having visited the Strahov in Prague. The description of the filing "system" makes you wonder how they find anything. The book of Kells is just stunning. Question, why do some not... More

Interesting short tour... student in charge of tour very knowledgeable friendly, many historical facts and some present ones too, takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes, this is not an inside tour so if it's hot and sunny perhaps wear a hat!

The exhibit of the Book of the Kells is housed at Trinity College - definitely not to be missed. Also, in the same building is the Long Room, which is a library which looks like something out of Harry Potter.

I liked the old library more than i would expect. It´s just a room, but it´s solemn and filled with history that you can´t help falling in love with the place. The book of kells exhibition in itself is also well worth the queue line and price. Amazing piece of art.

The line for admission went quickly. The exhibit of the Book of Kells was very well Donegal. We were blown away by the beauty of the illustrations. The colors are so vivid after all these ages. The detail it's amazing. Stepping into the library was equally breathtaking. Floor to ceiling rows of books arranged on beautiful wood shelving. It was... More

Trinity College houses the Book of Kells and the display shows the illustrations to great effect. It is always interesting to see the care taken with Biblical documents by the devoted monks. On the floor above is the Long Room Library. Even if you've never read for enjoyment you must see this exquisite room with books arranged by size!

The book of Kells is probably one of the most boring experiences I have ever had. After waiting in line for what seemed like forever, we got to look around at a dull and boring series of info walls. We then went into a dark room and and look at an almost unrecognizable book that was also dark and boring.... More
