This place rocks and is so quaint and historic. I'm not much of a whiskey drinker but after the tasting we enjoyed I could easily become an avid whiskey drinker. You must try the Green Spot, Yellow Spot and the Red Breast 12 all are outstanding and very smooth. I purchased a Bottle of Red Breast 12 to take back... More

I love this bar and when I'm there with a few friends I try get into the snug, once an ubiquitous feature in Irish bars now alas very hard to find. "Victorian bar with stained glass skylight and timeless ambiance for hosting Irish music sessions". From their website.

Probably the best bar in Dublin with some of the friendliest patrons around. Superb pint of Guinness

Not sure I want to let others know but this is probably not a Dublin secret anyway! If you're looking for a quiet, old fashion Dublin Pub, without the hordes of tourists or hen/stag parties during the day, then this gorgeous place has everything you could wish for. Friendly barstaff, great authentic beer and a wonderful atmosphere. A little piece... More

Friendliest Pub in Temple Bar. Always meet a local willing to chat. Not cheap, but worth the experience. A "must do" for at least one drink.

We had a couple of drinks upstairs. When we arrived, there was a very friendly English bar man on who chatted to everyone as they ordered. A short time later, he was replaced by a very unfriendly bar man who made no effort to chat to anyone. We had a lovely seat at the bar and were able to have... More

The bar staff know there customers well. The bar is small in size compared to the other pourhouses but the ambience more than makes up for this. The locals and the tourist alike enjoy the main dish on the menu which is conversation. No live music spontaneous singing etc, but apparently l have heard that the Welsh Rugby team supporters are allowed... More

The Palace is one of my favorite pubs in Ireland. It was featured in the Irish Pubs documentary, and I had the good luck to meet the owner, who was extremely nice -- so nice that he let me have my Guinness for free after I shook his hand and told him how much I enjoyed watching him in the... More

We try to visit the Palace Bar whenever we are in Dublin. Traditional pub at the edge of Temple Bar with a 'local' clientele and a number of journalists. Good atmosphere! Recommended.

What a wonderful local pub. Some tourists but also plenty of locals. Great beers and whiskeys. Lovely seating area which helps to invite visiting between tables and chairs. A gem of a place!
