A Gem of a Dublin pub a stone's throw from the Spire
Nov 2021 • Friends
The Confession Box is a very short stroll (3mins) from the Spire on O'Connell and well worth the effort. The pub is small but extremely COVID friendly with individual screened off pods inside the bar. The staff are lovely and manage welcoming guests within guidelines really effectively. Once safely installed you can soak in the history that this bar is steeped in and enjoy a pint and dram at a reasonable rate a stone's throw from O'Connell St.

Quirky little Irish Pub where locals gather
Dec 2019
We visited here twice during our holiday. The first time at the end of November, the second at the beginning of December. I had found this online, so we decided to check it out. There was a pretty small area around the bar, with more tables upstairs. We sat up on really tall stools by the bar. Locals came in to visit. Needless to say , we had a lot of fun! Paul got to pour his own pint of Guiness, and was awarded a certificate. He also bought a souvenir tshirt. Nibbles aka snacks were available for purchase. Would love to go back!

Short stop
Feb 2020
Classic small pub with seats on the first floor and upstairs. Just drinks no food. At the end of the week live music. We had a beer but wanted to talk so we left after one drink. It was nice though.

Quirky little pub
Feb 2020 • Couples
Best value in Dublin centre. Tiny pub with a big heart. Very friendly landlady and chap who referred to himself as the hired help ha ha. Best kept ales we tasted, friendly locals and very reasonably priced. Quirky building , definitely worth seeking out

Our annual visit
Feb 2020
We visited the confession box two times on this visit. We love the sisters who run it they are a joy to visit with. It may be small but if you want to experience real Irish culture and Guinness at a fair price stop in and learn about Irish culture this is a must see for your trip

MY FAVORITE PUB OF ALL TIME
Jan 2020
ignore the reviews of grumpy bar staff {must have been an off day people have em}
we walked in we were welcomed we were last out brilliant nite brilliant bar brilliant staff brilliant locals,
great big thanks to the 2 gents upstairs who filled me and Mary with Easter rising knowledge, politics the famine and everything thing else including Michael Collins{one of Ireland's greatest} who now sits proud on my fridge,They helped wipe away my tears of the horrors this country has faced for its independence.
Even though i am i hesitate to say British it was an honour to talk to the locals and know that i stood amongst the proud and the great who fought for their country

CAN NOT WAIT TO RETURN

Wouldn't bother

Reviews looked great. Walked in and its basically a box room with everyone watching horse racing. Nobody says a word! Bartender is a miserable f****r. Carry on walking. Some absolute brilliant pubs right round the corner... Brannigan's for one.
