The Merry Ploughboy is the only pub in Ireland owned and managed by musicians, and it is the 'hands on' approach from the owners that makes a visit to the Merry Ploughboy the highlight of many people's trip to Ireland. The two hour Irish music & Irish dancing show (which takes place nightly at the pub) has been awarded "Best Dinner/Entertainment Event in Ireland" and the pub is the current "Music Pub of the Year" in Ireland. Owners and musicians, The Merry Ploughboys, have been performing together for 25 years making their show the longest running show in Ireland hosted continuously by the same performers. The pub is located about 20 minutes south of Dublin City centre with complimentary car parking. It is easily accessed by taxi or if you are staying in the city centre we recommend our shuttle transfer service (just 7.50 euro return fare). The transfer by luxury executive coach offers an elevated view of the scenic Southside of Dublin city. After the show, the coach will drop you back as close as practical to your accommodation. Reservations are essential, however online bookings for the dinner & show (and shuttle transfer if required) can be made in real-time on our own website. We operate a "ticketless" booking system. You will receive a unique booking reference number on your email receipt and our floor manager will have all your details when you arrive at the pub.

Having been here twice in less than a month, once with a good friend from Sweden and once with my Old Man, the pub has good food, a decent selection of beverages, and an amazing atmosphere. I get the feeling a fair few locals go here, playing cards, grabbing a bite to eat or a beer or two. It has... More

We came here as part of a corporate event so we had the entire place to ourselves. They can pack quite a large audience in this place, but it wasn't uncomfortable. The food was good, consisting of a three course meal. The show of course was the highlight. We all enjoyed the music and dancing and the performers were quite... More

Warm Irish staff. Wonderful authentic Irish pub with great musicians and dancers. The food was good. The musicians great. The dancers great as well. This is a locally owned and run pub and you really get all the famous Irish friendliness with the authentic music dance and food. One of the highlights of our trip. Note that although it is... More

Like everybody says, the food is fantastic, service is superior and the entertainment is engaging. Makes for a wonderful night out with family and/or friends. The musicians give their all throughout the night and have the diners participating in song and dance. The young Irish dancers are great and bring their own style of excitement and awe to the pub.... Without doubt one of the best meals we have ever had as a family in a pub like this. The staff were attentive and extremely friendly. Could not fault the food in any way. The place was spotless. Will definitely be back soon.

The food was excellent. Tip - don't eat to much bread you will never get to the end of the amazing apple pie 😂😂Everyone in our party enjoyed each dish. Music was traditional Irish folk songs. Very good and really encouraged audience participation. The the dancers were fantastic and so energetic. Truly amazingly talented young people it was worth every... More

I like to be on the stage and perform when I am on vacation, since I just want to have fun, fun, fun! Sure enough, I was called up to the stage and won a T-shirt, then I had to:" Put it on slowly..." I totally understood the hint and I had a great time to be sexy and playful!... More

My wife and I just completed a 10 day self guided drive tour of Ireland. We finished it with an online reservation Dinner/Show at the Merry Ploughboys in Dublin, what a finish. Food was very good, service was friendly and responsive. The musicians and dancers exceeded all expectations. All players interacted with the audience and we felt we were part... More

Three of us dined in the Parlour in the Merry Ploughboy last Saturday night and we had a great evening. The place was packed and we arrived at 9.15pm and managed to get a table. There was a large group beside us of Italians and a 90th Birthday Party all having a great time. The parlour has great atmosphere decked... More
