This is a lovely peaceful space adjacent to Dublin castle. Anyone particularly interested in gardens will find a beautifully well maintained display with an interesting variety of planting and some spectacular mature trees. We called here in February when the late winter/early spring display was really good and again this month when most gardens are looking a little worse for wear, the garden was still looking pristine and still contained many flowering plants and shrubs. As well as planting, there are some lovely sculptors and a moving memorial to Garda officers.
Plenty of seating available around the circular grassed area provides a wonderfully peaceful retreat.

The Dubh Linn Gardens are directly behind the Dublin Castle and feature free entry...there are benches and shaded areas where weary travelers can sit for a while to recharge. The gardens are well-tended and appear to be popular as there were lots of folk walking about.

The gardens include a separate Garda Siochana Memorial Garden dedicated to Guarda who have fallen in the line of duty. And another shady garden is nearby with benches for reflection where you will find the bust of Veronica Guerin. Ms. Guerin was a crime reporter who was murdered after her investigative report on organized drug crime was featured in the Sunday Independent. The garden is a fitting memorial...

Enjoy!

The Dubh Linn gardens are an ornamental garden laid out in a celtic pattern which double up as the parliament's private helipad! They are well maintained and also incorporate the memorial to the police force as well as the Chester Beatty library. Grab a take-away coffee from here which is rather good and sit and enjoy the view for a while and take the weight off your feet.

The Dubh Lin Garden is a beautiful small green garden outside the castle. I don’t think this garden is worth a separate visit, but it is worth visiting if you are in the area. In addition to the beautiful garden itself, from inside the garden, you get a great view of the castle. On our tour, we were told the garden is sometimes used as a helicopter landing pad, which was interesting.

This is a nice serene place to find some rest in this busy city. Located behind Dublin Castle and surrounded by a wall its a nice quiet spot for meditation or a picnic.

Dubh Linn was once a deep harbour where Viking ships could be beached and offload their cargo where the stream of the river was not too strong. Today it is a circular grassy garden with a brick Celtic knot pattern. The pattern is not visible because the grass has not been cut. This might be bad for me - but it is great for the bees who need early spring flowers such as Daisy’s, dandelions etc.

Just a 2 minute stroll from temple bar. Lovely gardens that also double was the official helipad for the castle.

This is a nice area to walk or sit and avoid the crowds. Not big and not a destination but nice to stop by on your way around Dublin.

There was no one there for the longest time while we were. It seems that this might be an overlooked garden. It was nice and quiet but beautiful more being able to experience alone.

This enormous garden is the perfect place to walk, relax, meditate. However, from an artist point of view, the garden is a museum and art gallery with sculptures from local artists. The memorial of the victims of the civil war or independence uprising will leave you thinking.
