My sister and I discovered this hidden gem in Dun Laoghaire. We both grew up on the ocean and therefore have a great interest in maritime history. This museum, housed in an old seafarer's church, is a bit out of the way, but is absolutely worth the trip by DART or taxi. The folks at the museum are very friendly and eager to answer any questions you may have. The displays in the museum are first rate. I highly recommend this museum, you will need at least 3 hours to see everything.

We dropped into this delightful museum on a whim, and we left wishing we'd been able to spend more time in it. Its run by a team of knowledgeable enthusiasts who seem very happy to talk about the exhibits, which include a magnificent lamp and lens from the lighthouse at Howth as well as many other interesting artefacts. The building is a former church and has retained many of its beautiful original features. A real gem.

This museum, situated in the old mariner's Church is inexpensive and is packed with exhibits. It's not a large museum but what it does have is very good. There are model ships and bits and bobs from ships as well as some fascinating information about Ireland's Lighthouses including a fully restored, rotating light head from a lighthouse you can see up close. It may not be very exciting for children, but if like me, you are interested in maritime history, this museum is a lovely place to spend an hour or two. The staff were extremely friendly and enthusiastic.

Really enjoyable and hidden delight in busy Dun Laoghaire . The staff are fantastic and go the extra mile to make our experience all the better. They are fantastic at interacting with children too. Lovely afternoon spent there and definitely will be back. You don’t know what you’re missing

This was on my to-do list for a while. I booked the tour & it was very good. The church itself is beautiful & the perfect place to house the museum. Our guide was interesting & moved along at the perfect pace, going through the history & development of DL Harbour, shipwrecks in the bay, rnli & lighthouses etc. The collection of artefacts is impressive. I would highly recommend a visit.
