This lake is the largest one in the nation, yet you do not hear about it as much. If you are going to the Galway area this place can be a beautiful site to take in the incredible views as something so majestic.

I first saw this lake from the Ashford Castle and it is beautiful. It's the second largest lake in Ireland with over 365 islands and beautiful vistas of the Connemara Mountains. Said Patrick was banished to one of the islands on Lough Corrib. I enjoyed...More

A lovely spot that is very popular with anglers. There are plenty of nice walks around. A nice elevated view of the lake and its islands can be reached by driving out from Oughterard via signposts for the Western Way. We had a great base...More

A very, very enjoyable experience! Excellent, amusing commentary from David and a remarkable stop to visit the old monastery. Cong stopped just short of being tacky (the Quiet Man was shot there)

Turn right onto Camp Street in Oughterard, by the Boat Inn, and keep driving until you hit a beauty spot car park and there is a access only sign. The walk for a mile and you are suddenly in a sublime bog marked with Wild...More

Stayed at Ashford Castle for 2 nights and we arrived by cruise. It was a wonderful way to arrive. There are 365 islands on the lake and most are uninhabited. Rugged and beautiful.
