We visited here on our way back from Clifden last week. Although I had heard the song about Dan O’Hara lots of times I never really listened to the words in great detail. I won’t be able to listen to it again without thinking of...More

Take the tractor ride up to the homestead with your guide, walk back into history. Our guide was very amusing and informative. A peat fire was burning and smelled wonderful. Our guide also took us outside to show us how to get the peat from...More

We decided to visit the farm on our way back to Dublin and it was such a treat. We didn't know what to expect and it ended up being the favourite part of my trip. Between the video to begin with, the Crannogs and Dan's...More

We visited as a part of our tour group. We boarded a train car pulled by a tractor to the hillside. Dan demonstrated how to harvest peat. We also saw Connemara horses and a old homestead.

I wasn't sure this was worth stopping. As it turned out it was really good. This gave a great insight into the whole area and the potato famine in particular. I never understood how tenant farmers worked and why there was a famine in spite...More

This was a great place to give you insight into the lives of Irish poor before and during the famine. The video is an excellent place to start and then a walk up to the homestead is well worth the trouble. Really well done and...More

Visited here with a tour. They provided a farmhouse luncheon and then a tractor ride to the top of the hill where they showed how they dig and dry pest. You then get to see an old homestead of a local farmer Dan o'Hara where...More
