    The atmosphere you expect.
The atmosphere is festive, bars and restaurants are plentiful, and the history is worth well taking in. Spread over a number of lanes you will likely cover the historical and Latin quarter of Galway within a day or two (depending on your pace). It's certainly worth the time to stop by and admire the architecture and quaint shops.

    Grand Atmosphere
What a fabulous place, lively and busy with people both local and tourists. Some nice shops and plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants. The street performers were very professional from a harpist to singers and a guy perfmorming with a football. Good to wander about and soak up the atmosphere. Grand!

Good vibes, live music and lots of food and drink
Lovely vibe on this street. Visited on a Friday early evening and there was live music playing and the street was placed with people enjoying themselves. Looked to me lots of options for food and drink here though was unable to partake.

    Lively and Colorful Walking area
This Old Town section of Galway has a full range of shops, restaurants, and bars to suit all tastes. Plenty of outside dining/drinking space is available, weather permitting. This is a great area to simply stroll to get a feel for this very vibrant part of Galway. The amount of time you spend will certainly vary depending on your interests and any sort of dining/drinking you might do.

Beautiful area with tons of shop and restaurants. Quite touristy but fun. Dough Boys pizza is fantastic! Old cobblestone but fairly easy to maneuver for me being in a wheelchair.

Needs much more security and control. Open displays from young drunk idiots and violence against the homeless. This place alone is going to ruin the 18+ drinking age. I don't think I'd ever say that, but young of Galway don't ruin a good thing by showing you aren't actually adults.

Great vibe and energy. Right in the middle of the city. Touristy but still fun. Tons of places for a beer. Very walkable. We enjoyed the area.

This is a super lively area in central Galway but - alas - overly touristy and thus has lost quite a lot its authenticity, compared to 15-20 years ago. My daughter remarked "it's like Mong Kok" (the popular and packed Hong Kong district) and returned to the hotel... at some times in the afternoon, it seeks every tourist visiting the area is here....

Bit of a continuation of Quay Street with shops, pubs, and restaurants. Very crowded so keep a close eye on your kids and pets. Good place to walk around but not a necessity while visiting.

On a late Sunday afternoon, the main shopping street, reserved for pedestrians, was still chock-a-block filled with shoppers, tourists, and locals from the Quay to Eyre Square. It was too crowded to enjoy looking at the various stores and eateries, most of which had outdoor patio tables fenced off from the crowds walking by. Buskers, who must first get a permit, entertained along the street including a young girl violinist! Enjoyed seeing the books in the 2 bookshops on this street and a photo stop infront of Lynch's Castle/the bank, but couldn't wait to get to Eyre Square for a breather. Even the area around the St. Nicholas Collegiate Church was packed where locals had set up tables to sell bric a brac. This church closes at 4:30 so I missed seeing its interiors. The Oscar Wilde statue, chatting to Estonian author, Vilde, seemed out of place on such a busy street. A park - Eyre Square - would have been more appropriate IMO. I guess it's not an experience to be missed to walk along the main street in the Latin Quarter, but I didn't linger.
