We drove along Doo Lough Pass from Renvyle to Sligo, looking for the site where 600 Irish citizens died in the 1840's from the great potato famine. It was late in the day and the sky was overcast. When we found the memorial, we stopped...More

Beautiful drive through the mountains. Mountains, waterfalls, sheep, shades of green - lots to see! The weather was foggy and misting. However, it added to the drive rather than take away from it. It gave a moody feeling.

Enjoy the beauty that Ireland has to offer by driving along the lake and looking at the majesty of the mountains. It's impressive and captures your attention. Do mind the sheep as it's their pasture land.

We drove thru DooLough Valley during a Ireland tour and found it to be so breathtaking beautiful with a sad history. We could not image this valley during the winter of the Great Irish Famine march to find food, its quietness gave the valley a...More

Went through this area on our way to the Aran Islands. So charming! It's on our list to stay for a couple of nights next year.

I could feel the ghosts of the many who perished here, starved. So, so sad. But so worth seeing and experiencing!
